I sure wouldn't have gone swimming in Temperance River, but it's also possible they could have fallen in while hiking on the river's edge. Prayers to family, friends and colleagues. I've always loved camping at Temperance River campground because it's so peaceful and beautiful. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in that beauty and remember that nature can sometimes be dangerous.

The two were not swimming they were washing thier hair in knee deep water when one slipped and got washed down stream. The 26 year old jumped in to save the 17 year old and lost her life also.

I profoundly hope alcohol was not involved in a drowning in the "Temperance" River.

No alcohol was involved it was a church group and some of the best kids you would ever want to know. Truely the best!

My wife and I know the Steiskal family from our old church and are saddened to hear of her death. I met Julie several times. She was always very friendly and a wonderful photographer.

Please keep these two families in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.

Julie was my roomate in college a few years back. She was an adventurous and caring person. It doesn't suprise me that she would risk her life trying to save someone. Please keep her friends and family in your prayers. I'm sure she will be missed.

I am hoping to find info on how to write her family or attend her funeral?

They are so needed here; but maybe if the world is going to just get worse Heaven is a good place to be.I pray for peace for their families and a lessinging of grief after a ]time. Love, Don.

They were not wearing life jackets. Not sure why when Drea's application clearly stated that she was a beginner swimmer. Why was she even allowed to go near that raging water/???

The temperance river is perfectly swimmable in some locations. There are great rocks to jump off and the water is quite refreshing. In other spots however, it is extremely dangerous. The water rages over rocks and through canyons and It wouldn't matter if they had life jackets or not there would be no surviving once you are sucked down the rapids and falls.

I know this was a while ago, but I give my condolences to the family involved.
