What is wrong with people?! Jeez! These innocent babies have nobody to defend them but their parents, adults, etc! If you don't want your child or you can't care for him/her properly, find someone who can! I cannot believe that in 2008 we still have people beating on children! Not even the harshest of animals abuses its offspring so what gives a human the right to beat their children? Arrogance in its worst form. Thank you for bringing awareness to this very problem in our society.

My heart is breaking for our children!First Baby Brianna and now this! Our legislators must create laws to deal harshly with those who abuse or know of abuse and don't report. We must help families, deal with alcohol and drug abuse in our community and gather together to provide support to families. I am learning of programs such as 'Many Mothers' who provide grassroots solutions. Many more of us must be willing to sacrifice and help. How have we become so desensitized? God help us!

There has been so much child abuse it is just so sad. There should be a law that if a child is taken away from the parents that child should be placed with a healthy family and adopted. Once a child starts being tossed back and fort to parents that are unstable there are going to be tragic results. The parents may never be able to take care of children. Child rearing is not for parents that are unstable.

I know the case. The little boy was in foster care before his "father" got custody of him. The system didn't work again. Another dangerous person was handed a young life to care for and now that life is over. This man needs to be punished and the people and the officials need to be delt with harshly. This is just another example of New Mexico's corruption and inability to prioritize. A child is dead, and the FBI will not punish him to the degree that is needed.

I think this man should be charged with murder and beaten like he beat his child. There is no excuse for abusing anyone who is not able to properly defend themselves.

I agree with all comments.. Unfortunately, the judicial system will provide Paiz with a defense attorney (Mitchell) and he will claim insane at time of incident; continue to be housed in jail where he is being served steaks and all the good food that the rest of us are trying to put on our table; Then he goes to trial and the jury's verdict "Innocent because of INSANITY!" Will be released to the Jicarilla Tribe and continue to receive royalties and continue to murder as he pleases!

Don't kill the man (too easy for him), place him in prison for life where the inmates will take care of him!

An eye for an eye...a huge, beastly human being should pound this scumbag until he's barely alive, yet still suffering, then finish him off. Save us taxpayers the bill of supporting his a** in prison!

I think that we should not blame our system. The responsibility lyes on the parents themselves. They both in my opinion belong in jail. The abuse was there but not reported. If the parents would have been resposible and took care of their children well then this would have not happen.

You must be out of your mind! It's the system that failed this baby boy and now he's dead.....do you get it? It's the system that was aware of this baby boy's suffering and they returned him to his murderous father. Yes, the ultimate fault is of the parents, but they failed, so the system took over the child. The system should've protected this child and they should face consequences too.

It was very sad to have known that this kind of unhumanly kind of behavior was going on in Dulce. As a Dulce resident and a mother of three (9,4 & 2 1/2 yr. old), this was very disturbing to hear. I had considered this very personal, because who would do this torture to a baby, namely your own son, flesh and blood. I hope they do throw the book at this man and give him the max. sentence. This is DEFINATELY not right. There is no excuse that this man could use for his actions on beating his son. Did he not for one minute think of how his son may have felt while this was happening to him. Treston Paiz may you rest in peace and go and live with your TRUE father in heaven. You will be missed and we are all sorry that you had to experience the beginning of your life this way.

I agree with this, back in Nov 2005, don't know if anyone remembers the story of a Dulce native killing his own father in Rio Rancho, NM. Well the outcome of this story was all the son got was 2-5 years in prison for self-defense and insanity. I know both the son and father. More so the father, he was a good man to everyone. The investigators DID NOT FULLY INVESTIGATE this incident and the son got off with 2-5 yrs and now where is the father-DEAD!! Anyways, during the time the son left the house and when the police found him, the son had enough time to change his cloths and throw them somewhere. Now the investigator never did check into where the son left his cloths at, because he showed up at the hospital with clean cloths, while he left his father pool of blood at the residence all cut up and with his neck slashed. Now tell me this is self-defense and insanity. VICE VERSA, but its shows how Fck'd up the New Mexico Court System is. I strongly believe, EVERYONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS, REGARDLESS IF YOU ARE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS. THERE ARE NO EXCUSES FOR YOUR OWN SHITTY DECISIONS.

Here we go again. What is it going to take to provide protection for all the innocent children? I honestly believe that drugs and alcohol play a big part in what is happening to all these innocent children. I actually get sick to my stomach every time I hear that a child has been injured or killed by these idiotic------whatever you want to call them??????????

I truly believe that justice will prevail in this case. Has anybody questioned the mother on her history of alcoholism and abuse to the child and the reasons why the child ended up with the father anyway. In my opinion I think more facts need to be brought to light before anyone should judge.!!!!!!! what roll did the mother and her family play in this part whos to say the child wasnt beaten by her!

I have seen the terrible repercussions of a wrongful accusation and I also believe that many of us should see and hear all the evidence before making any judments. But only one person can ever truly judge all of us.
