I grew up in Pagosa Springs, Co but moved away 30 years ago to Oklahoma. Last Summer I started reading a weekly featured article regarding the Jararilla Apache people in the Pagosa Springs Sun newspaper. My maiden name is Chacon, and have always wondered about my ancestors, but have been unable to really find out any information except that most of my family came from Northern NM. So, you can imagine how excited I was when I read that one of the Jicarilla's old leader was a Chacon. If there is anybody that has anymore information, please respond to this posting. Thank you.
