Do you believe the bible teaches women suffer pain during child birth because a person ate fruit from a tree of knowledge in a place called Eden?

Thank you for your question. By person, I'm guessing you are referring to Eve the mother of ALL living human beings (Genesis 3:20). According to the Inspired Word of God, it tells us in Genesis 3:16, due to the her transgression of God's law, God told Eve "I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children...."

The multiplying of conception was not part of the punishment for her sin, it was part of God's will that humanity should be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), but as part of that, God would add to it, "sorrow" which includes everything that goes along with conception - The most severe anguish of body and soul as illustrated in several passages (Psalm 48:6; Micah 4:9-10; 1 Thessalonians 5:3; John 16:21; Revelation 12:2).

So, yes, I believe what the Bible teaches on the subject. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the answer. I've asked others this question and dont really understand their answer. I appreciate you stating you do believe the Bible teaches this, where I get confused is when asking a question regarding the bible many times the response is 'avoiding' my question. Hope you understand that.

Two other subjects I've wondered about. Does the bible teach hell is a punishment a person is sent to after death where they burn in eternity? And does the bible state God drowned people in a great flood.

You, of course, are under no obligation to answer. I hope you do, as I've asked these questions in the past. Also, in no way am I debating your beliefs. This is simply a subject I can never study enough..not the bible as much as differing beliefs. And I appreciate the fact you appear to know what you are talking about with interpeting the bible.

Thank you. BB

Willow, there is no such thing as a dumb question when one is trying to find out the Will of God. Questions are how we discover our place in this world, as well as our duties.I don't mind answering your questions at all, and there is really nothing wrong with debate - although many are opposed to it because it tends to disprove their theories. I glad I was able to show you what God has to say on the birth process.Everything, and I mean everything that I will show you, will be from the Bible, not my words, or my opinion, but what God has to say on the subject. Though I may help your understanding of a passage, that is not the same as adding to the Word of God.The word "hell" - is it a place, and is there eternal punishment in that place? What we must understand is that we are composed of two properties (1) The outward man - our physical bodies, which will cease to function and be buried one day (2 Corinthians 4:16; Romans 6:12-13; 8:7-8).(2) the inward man - our soul or spirit which is given by God to all men and women (not animals)(Ecclesiastes 12:7; Zechariah 12:1; Hebrews 12:7). It is our inward man, our soul/spirit that lives eternally (2 Corinthians 5:1), and is what we truly are that can be saved, and will live on to spend eternity in one of two places (Heaven or Hell).

The purpose of life is a testing ground for eternity. God gave each of us a will to choose our own path. He gave us a conscience that tells us right and wrong. But the only way that we can know why something is right or wrong is by studying God's revealed will (the bible). It will not be God's fault if someone spends eternity in Hell, no more than will it be God who sends someone to heaven. Those rewards are determined by OUR choices in this life.Because God is perfect in every aspect of His being, He is unable to be partial. He deals with everyone in the same way. Unlike mans, His justice is perfect (Isaiah 6:3; 57:15; 1 Peter 1:15-16; Romans 11:22). The only chance we get to receive heaven as our reward is in this life - there are no second chances - no purgatory, no reincarnation, etc.Just as Heaven is a place, so hell is a place, Where they are, we are not told. Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14 that there are two roads, one that is wide that the majority of the people in the world will take that leads to ETERNAL destruction (hell) and one that is narrow that FEW people will choose that leads to ETERNAL life (heaven). There is a difference between Hades and Hell. Hades is the temporary place where ALL people (souls) who have died go until Jesus returns to Judge us (Luke 16:19-31). Hell is the eternal abode where the sinner goes and it is described as eternal fire, the lake of fire, torment, where the worm never dies, weeping and gnashing of teeth, (Revelation 20:13-15; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9).There is only one way for our souls to escape hell, and that is by obeying God's requirements for salvation and remaining faithful the rest of our lives. I hope that helps, but if not, let me know we will discuss it further. As for the flood - in Genesis 6:5 we told that God saw how wicked men and women had become, except for Noah and his family. God instructed Noah to build an Ark (ship) and to preach to the people to repent. While building the ark, Noah preached for 120 years, but the people refused to repent, therefore when the flood came, every person on earth (1 billion) died because of their wickedness which God could not allow. Only Noah and his family (8 souls) and the animals were saved to start all over again. (Genesis, 6-9; 1 Peter 3:19-21).Just as God will punish in Hell for all eternity those who choose not to obey Him today, so He immediately punished those in Noah's day for not obeying Him, and those same people will spend eternity in Hell. They had 120 years to change, but they made the choice not to do so.

Ok, but I have a problem accepting innocent children being drown. I visualize mother watchng their babies float away. And little children watching their parents die, they must have been horrified. Is there any mention in the bible why newborn babies and little children were also killed in this flood? I can't think of God as doing this act. Is it possible the bible could be wrong? My vision of God is a forgiving, loving creator.

Thank you.

The problem that many have in accepting the things that God does, is the fact that we are looking through fleshly, non-spiritual eyes.

Now it is not true that God is behind every horrible thing that happens. God does not take the lives of individuals today. There is not a pre-planned schedule for us to die. Like when people say that it was "God's will" or that it was "An act of God." They have no way of proving that.

God dealt differently with humanity in the Old Testament Days, than He deals with us today. His punishment many times was immediate in the Old Testament, where it is not today.

As horrible as it was for those mothers watching their babies float away, or drowning, that was only an additional punishment for the wickedness those mothers had chosen to live in. But at the same time, we must remember that those babies were innocent and in a safe condition. Their eternal lives would be spared because they had not sinned against God. So while it was horrible that they died, it is wonderful that they will live forever, unlike their parents

The sad fact of life is that many innocent people will suffer the consequences of other peoples sins. What about the innocent baby who is born addicted to drugs because its mother selfishly chose to take them while pregnant? Or the innocent baby born addicted to alcohol for the same reason?

It's not God's fault, it was a choice that the mother made, and the baby suffered for it. The same was true of the flood. God tried to prevent the punishment of the people, but they only thought of themselves and refused to obey God. Therefore the innocent suffered because others didn't care about their fellowman, only about themselves.
