Police have identified a man who was fatally shot by a Pulaski County sheriff's deputy after he assaulted the officer with a knife.

HG, I know a 70 year old man that could take down just about any 3 guys you could put him up against. My dad is almost 70, and he can handle himself pretty well too. Don't assume that he's a decrepit old man.

Word to the wise: when you get combative with cops and have a weapon, just go ahead and count on getting shot.

LOL HG. You don't know the country do you? Must be a city fellow. Although we don't know what kind of knife, it was probably not a citified switch blade but a big hunting knife. Also says the officer was assaulted by the man with the knife before he shot him. Self defense pure and simple.

A knife is a deadly weapon. Pulling it on an officer you're just looking to get shot. Had he gotten the chance you best believe he would have stabbed the officer. Self Defence!!!

Sounds like the officer was practicing 'gun control' - he hit what he was shooting at...Don't yell ans swear at the police, don't throw things at them and good grief, don't pull a knife on one with a gun, (or without a gun either).

Read some of the English newspapers and see how many people have been stabbed to death this year already with "ONLY A KNIFE".

Try a ride along program with a local Police Department. You will see things a little clearer. A knife will kill you just as fast as a gun HG.
