Come be apart of a once in a lifetime thing. The Verdin Company from Cincinnati Ohio is here to help us celebrate our Bicentennial by casting a bell at the Market on Madison. There have brought the worlds only bell foundry on wheels. come be apart of this 2 day event. you will not regret it when you see the 2200 degree metal come flowing out of the furnace bright orange! It is very exciting. see the schedule below. Hope to see you there.
Market on Madison Downtown Dublin in Dublin
Come out and watch as the City of Dublin creates a bell!!! Watch as bronze ingots are passed from person to person, up to Verdin foundry personnel who then load the furnace with the final bits of bronze. The Verdin casting team explains in detail how a bell is made, the details of what is happening on the site and what history is being made.
Thursday Dec. 1st at 10am we will have the children pass the ingots to help us load the furnace so we can melt it down.
Thursday Dec. 1st at 5pm (when the metal reaches 2200 degrees) we will be casting the bell. be early to ask questions to the casting team and get a good viewing spot.
Friday Dec. 2nd at 10am we will break the bell out of the sand mold to begin cleaning and polishing it to the beautiful bell it will become.
Friday Dec. 2nd at 4:30 we will dedicate the bell. and we will have the opening ceremony for the Bicentennail.
come join the fun!

Whats up with the ridiculous sounding, off key and poorly timed gong show coming from it at the top of each hour? Pretty annoying to anyone near Jefferson St. and Washington.
