Pedestrians are supposed to yield for motor vehicle traffic, unless they are in a marked crosswalk. There is a law in Georgia about pedestrians in the roadway...

Unfortuate situation, but this poor lady and her son were just driving along, and someone is in the roadway in their travel path, and apparently she coudn't miss him, and now she has to live with it.

Pedestrians, including bicyclists, need to be aware that motor vehicle traffic is out, and move out of the way, or this will continue to happen.

Poor lady? What about poor jogger? And how could she not miss him? Your post makes it sound as if he were jogging down the middle of the road which is not true. It most certainly is a VERY unfortunate situation. I am sure there are more details that have not and likely will not be shared with the public. Especially since the 'poor lady' has an immediate family member who is with the GSP. This is an extremely sad situation. Furthermore, your closing comment is repulsive.'Pedestrians and cyclists should move out of the way or this will continue to happen'? What about people should put down their cell phones or whatever distractions they may have and pay more attention to the road? Hitting a person on foot at 10:00a.m. on a bright sunshiny day sounds more like carelessness to me. My heart goes out to the family of the jogger.

I have also saw these joggers and cyclists in the road, you pop over a hill and they are right there in the road. Not very safe at all.

The fact a troopers wife was involved should not be relevant. Due care is expected of a driver, but the law also states theat pedestrians shall move from the roadway when traffic is coming. What happened to them using due care as well?

Did the driver run off the road and hit him, or was he in the road?

I know of an incident where a lady was riding a bicycle on the side of the street. There was a man coming up behind her in a vehicle and he said he sneezed causing him to "jerk" the wheel, and he ended up hitting her. Fortunately, she lived. Accidents do happen!

And in regards to this being a wife of a GSP officer. What does that have to do with anything?

Both of these families need alot of prayers right now.
