A former Teen Challenge student exposes this abusive Christian alcohol and drug program. Although seen by many as a worthwhile organization, Teen Challenge has a dark side, one of pathological abuse and an obsession with the almighty dollar.

Some TCs are okay. Maybe the one near you is a good one. Unfortunately, many of them aren't.

I was a student a the Columbus, GA location and then transfered to Ft.Myers, Florida, through Jesus Christ, een Challenge saved my life. I think if you hav somehing bad to say about the program it is probably because it hit on some root issues and you cant handle the truth. JESUS LOVES YOU, let go.....

I was enrolled in tc when i was 16 for 15 months. I agree with everything in this article and its true you really dont know what really goes on until you have experienced it. I have nothing against religeon i believe in god and the heart to help others but there are boundries you dont cross and tc has twisted their motives. They have gotten caught up in the power trips and money. They need stronger people to take over who wont become distacted and who will keep their mind on the right reasons to work in a place like that. I hope the best with much love and respect for the men, women, boys, and girls who are in the centers currently and who have experienced it like i have. Some day it will change

I've worked alongside Teen Challenge in Dublin, Ireland and witnessed the incredible work they do and the lives transformed. I hope the stories are not true about its work elsewhere. However having met former drug-addicts here who have been set free from addiction I know that many of them are doing really valuable work.

I was the first Irish guy to complete teen challenge 19 years ago. Its the heat programme in the world. Many who don't really out the effort into get their lives together will complain like this. It is the best, most caring, loving and successful Christian programme in the world. I'm clean now 19 years. Happily married a father and grandfather

i was inrolled in teen challenge of middle georgia dublin when i was 17 and it was the most damaging experince of my life time. i graduated it because i had no choice due to court mandation. there actions and methods are absolutely astounding to someone who has never been in the demented cult within.personaly i think i will always have scars in my mind about that place and will never truely get over the verble abuse as well as the mental damage they do on a daily basis to make an atempt to create robot christians. On my final note i saw people come in perfectly sain and leave insain because of the fear of going to prison and the psycological damage that can be compared to torture.
i know that god has a special place for those demonic people who run teen challenge and one day he will take care of them for what they have done.
i send my love and care to all the men, woman, girls, and boys who are still traped behind its doors

Wow! Dollars, Money, Wealth! This is a pipe dream ... or should I say devilish propaganda. I was a former drug addict for 11 years. If it would dissolve-it went in my veins. NO-I did not go to TC. Jesus instantly set me free on 11/04/81, is small rural church in South Texas. Religion-absolutely not! The power of God-yes! I've worked closely with TC in Texas and opened a center in Mexico. Anyone who thinks this ministry is about $$ is either currently smoking crack themselves or doesn't have a clue how these ministries survive (emphasis on SURVIVE). If you look at TC success rate compared to other private and government run programs, the differences are staggering. What else is staggering is the overall cost per person (patient-student) that goes through the program. Hands down-no comparison. The directors and staff of these programs could make MUCH more money working secular jobs. The difference-this is their calling! Most have been in the shoes of the addicts and they know exactly what it takes to be able to live free. Let's face it--addicts don't obey the rules, they're not disciplined--they're not truthful or honest. Oh yea, I was an honest drug dealer. I never ripped anyone off (my personal saga). Rule of thumb: Don't judge a book but the negative press that you read online by someone that you don't even know or have never met. Many of the comments that you read by former TC students that didn't make it through the program had and still have issues they are not facing up to. Not to judge-just the truth. I love them anyway. TC makes no bones about it ... they are a CHRIST-CENTERED TREATMENT CENTER. They don't treat the symptom-they treat the sin. Get rid of the sin-you get rid of the symptom. Think what you will, Teen Challenge is a wonderful ministry helping tens of thousands around the world. Thank you David Wilkerson for obeying God.

my son is in TC in Dublin, and now I hear one counselor got in a fight with another counselor for cursing his wife, one teen got arrested today for DUI and wrecked the tc van, and another counselor was found passed out, another using drugs himself..and further more, I am told to pay almost 400 a month, and I find out my son is working a full time job and TC gets the paychecks, further more, I spoke to a young gentleman who has to work nights so he says he doesn't get to participate in any of the devotions and doesn't get to talk to a counselor..........Please someone help me to understand what is going on.

Nationally known drug treatment program, Teen Challenge, has encouraged this notion by claiming success rates ranging from seventy to eighty-six percent. But these figures dramatically distort the truth, as they represent the successful treatment rate of only those participants who do not drop out of the program before completion, which includes less than one-fifth (18%) of the total number of students who actually participated

Teen Challenge rocks, they help lots of boys and girls find life free of drugs/alcohol and trusting in Jesus. Of course it sounds like they are shoving God down your throat, and of course people think they are harsh - THey are a CHRISTIAN REHAB. Rehab is gonna be tough and strict, PERIOD. or it wont work.

I guess for some the experience of Teen Challenge is different. The program saved my brother's life! It was the Dublin, Georgia campus that helped him. His four children are relieved to have their father whole and healthy again. Maybe sometimes it's what we choose to take from something. There are all types of people in the world. I believe we should try to find the good in them and choose to set the example for those who are lost. Even in situations where we don't agree with every method, remembering the goal of healing through God and the purpose of the program will help to overcome the downsides some may find in the program .

My son went to TC Middle GA in Dublin, GA. It is a wonderful program but it is tough. You do have to work and you do have to do devotions, Bible Study and attend church (at the center) on Sundays. Those who are committed to being free of addictions are the ones who go on to be free of addictions.

I know some of the counselors personally. I can speak of their character. Not sure who may have gotten into a fight, sometimes things are exaggerated.

The boys/men are out in the public working. Although they are supervised if they want to get alcohol or drugs they can manage it. Sad but true.

My son is doing great 7 years later! One thing I would suggest is that you talk with one of the counselors at TC. They are usually glad to talk with you.

For the young man that was mandated to the program and talks of abuse...now if you said you voluntarily went in and was disappointed at the abuse, you may get my attention but sounds like you may need a reality check and grow up.

Blessings to all, we must first understand that there is no perfect church. No perfect people. We all at some point in time yield to our flesh. I can only imagine it isn't easy being in leadership to all those who come into the program. Even in our churches today, there are falling out from time to time. Pastors, worship leaders, etc, have struggles as well.. We all grow on a daily basis. Remember that everyone in church isn't saved. If somehow the things that i just read are going on, rather than place judgment, i rather pray a conviction upon them. We must work out our own salvation. I pray that God will have complete full course in these centers. I know for one David Wilkerson was a mighty man of God. And His vision has been carried out faithfully for many years. Unfortunately at time, u may come across some that may not take it as serious, but God will expose the enemy and judgment belongs to Him. I say this humbly and with much love. Let's continue to stand together and not divide the house up.. But come togethet in the unity of God's love. United we stand, divided we fall, A house divided against itself can never stand.

Stand in the Gap for one another.. Cover one another, build and edify one another In Love. God is able to do exceeding and abundantly above all we can ask or think according to the power placed in us..

God is the true deliverer, God is the only one who can save, God is the only One.. Blessings be upon you all. In Jesus Name amen!!

Teen challenge is the most corrupt, harmful, mind controlling program that the UNITED STATES of AMERICA allows! T.C. of chicago is a regular cleaning crew of SOLDIERS FIELD, U.I.C. pavillion, many many concerts that anyone can help themselves to alcohol or drugs at anytime. Being told to just ignore temptation when thrown into an enviroment where our temptations are evident is unbelievable. I HOPE CHICAGO TEEN CHALLENGE IS EXPOSED!!!! There are no certified counselors, all counselors are recent second phase grads. WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR!!!! LOOK IT UP!!! AS OF THIS TIME I HATE THE NFL FOR ALLOWING TEEN CHALLENGE TO WORK FOR NOTHING!!!!
