I agree that Mr. Fowler would be the best for city council. Look at the difference he has made in the old rundown buildings he has bought and renovated.

The Morings and the Petersons could take lessons from him. If we had better buildings there would be businesses in them. Look at the area around the old Firestone store. Nice looking buildings, well except for the Morings building. They are too stingy to do anything to help make downtown look better.

I say Royce Fowler for City Council. He doesn't have his head in the sand!

Also, Mrs. Powell that is running for the other post seems to be a progressive lady. She wants to see Soperton look better and move forward.

Just be cause they dont do something dont mean there stingy maybe they cant afford to. Not everyone can quit a nuclear plant open up a used car lot and and become a land and housing tycoon over night. Used car lots must really pay a good return to front all these activites. Or maybe somebodys milk aint clean! Makes you wonder dont it? But maybe this is the kind of buisness man we need.

The run down stores and houses that belong to the Morings are that way because they ARE stingy--they can well afford to repair their properties. They fixed that building real nice on the corner next to the old bank, and let the roof fall in and ruin everything. Why spend all that money and not do it right? Guess one of 'em was too busy wantin' to be a state politician. Yeah right, LMAO!

Hmmm....sounds like a little jealousy goin' on there. Why is it people resent someone who works hard from dusk to dawn, who has a great head for business, and who has done everything he can to improve the looks of our town? Look at the houses behind the funeral home. They are great! Look at the old station on the corner, and the stores next to it. Then look at the building on the corner that used to be the cleaners, all run down and boarded up, and compare it to Royce's properties. If Royce Fowler had that building, it wouldn't be the eyesore and disgrace that it is.

Jealousy.......that old green eyed monster!

You can throw stones at Royce all you want, and call him a fake, but if you open your ignorant eyes and look around, you will see the fruits of Royce's labor. He has renovated all the houses on the street behind the funeral home. He moved that dilapidated house from the corner at the Commissioner's office, and moved it just a few feet, and turned it into a beautiful group home for disabled adult women. He has renovated the old Baker service station, and the stores next to it all the way down to Mr. Warnock's law office.

What possible gripe could you have with this progress? I wish he had every run down building in town, from the mess across from Dennard's to the old Radford cleaners, and then every run down rental house the Morings and Petersons have. We have a huge business coming into this county. When it gets going, there will be much publicity. Won't our downtown area look great on a TV news story?

You must be one of those people who hates change--who likes to see crappy, run down properties like the Yates house was! You must approve of the way Soperton/Treutlen County has been held back from progressing all these years!

Wouldn't you like to see downtown Soperton full of stores and shops like Dennard's, Soperton Pharmacy, Clint's Beauty Shop, Soperton Naval Stores office, Soperton Ice Plant Antiques and Small Town Holidays? Oh, I forgot Crow's Dollar Store and Jennifers's Florist! And then you have all the shops down at the Piglet shopping center. The new Carol's Florist is very nice! Higgs Florist looks nice. I would love to see these stores fixed up and open for business--a coffee shop, gift shop, book store, restaurant like Big Lou's could have been, and maybe even a game room for the kids!

I meant to say in that last sentence that I would love to see the empty, run down stores fixed up and open for business.

And, I'm very thankful and grateful to the business owners we do have in Soperton!!!

Shop local!! Our SPLOSTS DOLLARS MEAN PROGRESS FOR SOPERTON AND TREUTLEN COUNTY!!

Royce just may be what this city needs to make a change. I haven't seen very much done in the city since the others were elected except many stores go out of business. Years ago, we could easily go up town and buy nice things that we need. Now everyone is resorting to going out of town to get what they need. Many of the people talk a good game to get in office and once they're in the things they spoke about to get there go undone. Soperton needs a serious change. I've lived here most of my life and I vowed that if I ever leave here again that I won't return because there is nothing here. The place seems so dead. Soperton use to be the spot where people love to come but we have nothing here anymore. The kids don't even have a place to just chill with their friends.Don't hate on Royce because he's accomplished what many men wanted to and just didn't go about doing things the way he did to get it done. Give credit where credit is due.

Royce owns the building where the "club" is and I believe the "club" is run by a Mr. Baker, who most likely rents the building from Royce.

Ha, ha, that is how rumors get started in Soaptown.

I am with you on this one.I would like to SQUELCH One nasty rumor that is going around. MRS. BECKY HOOKS DOES NOT RECEIVE A PERCENTAGE OF ANY GRANTS SHE GETS FOR THE CITY. Writing proposals is part of Miss Becky's job. I beleive through her many years of service as City Clerk she has gotten many fine grant's for Soperton. What I do know is that in the past. I beleive the County Hired a Proffessional Woman whose expertise is in Writing Proposals she worked as a Proffessional Consultant and in Compensation for her work she Got a percentage of the Grant which is perfectly Legal. It works on the same principal for example a Real Estate Agent if you Hire that Agent He or She get's a Commission for the Sale of your Home. Or if you are in the Entertainment Industry your Agent get's a Percentage of your earnings. So PLEASE STOP THESE NASTY RUMORS THEY ARE TOTALLY FALSE.

Hey Coffee Drinker...U sure sound like Royce!!! Ha!
Yeh, U have turned some things around...swindling good people out of there property for cheap prices. Then, them prices sure jack up once you get them. And for the Baker station uptown, please it is way more mischeif up there now.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Sagittarius

You're in rather a downbeat mood, Sagittarius, and you definitely need cheering up. Unfortunately, it's heavy weather at the moment, as Mars slows and the cosmos rather disturbed, but later in the month is wonderful for you. Money problems are particularly difficult to deal with right now, because you can't help worrying about them. Now that prevents you seeing the best course of action to solve them. Relax, even miserable moods soon pass.
