Theres already plenty of good mexican restaurants in that immediate area. You have Rudys, El Ranchero, Cabreras, Acapulco, Los Gueros, Don Reyes, I mean the list goes on. I dont see this place lasting more than a year or so.

While those other restaurants are ok. Max's in Azusa is Great! It reminds me of the old Olvera St. restaurants without having to travel to LA. Believe Max's will trieve at this new location.

To Duarte Citizen comment, many mexican restaurants, this Max restaurant is in Monrovia and almost Duarte. If you add in Duartes mexican restaurants, figure 6 more to what you mentioned. Obviously they are profitable but agree it won't last as " retail canabalization " will happen.

May last 1 - 2 years...

There are too many Mexican/Spanish Eateries already

A Panera Bread or Red Robin would be better choices

Welcome home Max! Nippy rippy, you can buy a restaurant and serve any kind of food you want, but I doubt many people would go. You might try a chicken place and call it Right Wings.

Panera Bread or REd Robins would have been a better fit, demograpically speaking, for Monrovia.

The new Max's Restaurant will do well at this location. There will be more parking on site so customers won't have to cross a busy street, This is a nice restaurant site, I have dined there when it was the french restaurant. It will have a nice banquet room for private parties. I think people are afraid of Max relocating to Monrovia. I don't see that as he has a huge following in Azusa. Welcome Max and Marta to Monrovia.

Can't take seriously the opinion of a person who thinks Acapulco is a good Mexican restaurant.

Good point, and most of the posters in this blog seem to be from Azusa welcoming Max's new location. Little do they know, at least on behalf of many Duarte residents, most people may avoid eating there due to... well, "political reasons". Max's is a huge supporter of Vulcan lets just put it that way.

Not true at all. Max loves Duarte, Azusa, and Monrovia most of all, for good reasons. Look closely and you will see that Max does not get involved in political issues, just loves his customers.

I can say without a doubt, Max is neutral on that issue AND I would encourage all people from Duarte to enjoy the atmosphere and good people. And, since I am part of the referendum supporters, I would know. Please do not drag this lovely couple and good restaurant into politics.

Relax!
