I was a teacher at Mt. Olive High School and had the honor of Meeting Tzeitel Paras-Caracci. She is a tremendous leader with the energy of a Duracell Battery. She keeps going and going and going.

She was Mayor while I was a teacher in Duarte USD and her leadership along with the entire council was admirable. I with her and the entire council and City of Duarte continued success!

Tzeitel Paras-Caracci alway took the time to come and support Mt. Olive efforts to educate Duarte's Youths. You would often see her at many of our school and districts functions in full support.

I say with 100% confidence Duarte is a better city with Tzeitel Paras-Caracci serving the community. Also I wish her luck on Friday.

Tzeitel Caracci is a decent person but she only chooses to battle issues that benefit her or that put her in the spotlight. Where was she during the fight to keep Vulcan away from Duarte. She was a no show, only Margaret, John and Louis carried on the torch for Duarte. Lets see what she does for ALL of Duarte, not just the youth.

Tzeitel is not a showboat, except for fashion, youth and consistent adherance to Brown Act. She was at the Azusa council meetings during the Vulcan proceedings most of the time, even staying as late as past midnight. And her vote to fight Vulcan mining expansion is on the record.

She has fought Vulcan (then Azusa Rock) since she was in high school and the records will prove that.

But let's see how she provides leadership for her mayoral term of FY 10-11, with budget deficits due to reduced City sales tax and other static revenues and ever increasing cost in the City's bureaucracy, mounting city legal costs due to laxed legal papers before 2001, employees salaries and runaway pension cost and others.

And residents who think they are being taxed to the max would be a visible opposition to City Staff's self-serving pro-tax hikes stance.

I think the Duarte City Council had to rethink that fast dwindling $700,000 budgeted, but not set-aside and deducted from the City's budgeted reserve, to fight Vulcan. If the Duarte City Council doesn't seek a second legal opinion regarding Vulcan, Duarte coffers may end up empty, at the expense of other badly needed City services. And whose fault would that be?
