Redevelopment uneven in Valley

As a long time “have-not” Temple Citian, I could not agree with you more regarding “Redevelopment uneven in Valley.” Temple City’s long-term failure to revitalize the city’s commercial areas can be attributed to our leadership, mainly Councilmembers Ken Gillanders and Cathe Wilson, who have sat at the helm of our sinking ship for a combined 40 years. As sales tax revenue continued to decline during their tenures, we continued to vote for them, thinking that their years of service on the City Council would somehow rescue our city’s business district, instead of thinking that they could be the problem. In fact, it was Ken Gillanders who pushed to include non-retail businesses on Las Tunas in the 1980s, a problem he is “trying” to correct with the moratorium push. I for one will not fall for it again in 2009, when the incumbents run for reelection.

I couldn't agree more with the the above comment. When people get out and Vote, Temple City will move forward.... Forty years of service and look at the mess the city is in....
