Why does Duanesburg have $3 MILLION dollars just sitting around?

Just another day in Duanesburg with the superintendent passing the buck (no pun intended), who from the district had access to this account?
So much for our "surplus" funds to have graduation at Proctors now,,maybe news channel 13 should look closer at that situation. Duanesburg gets a grant from Proctors in June/July 2009, and all of a sudden the superintendent and BOE initiates a "vote" by students where to have 2010 graduation.?.?
(I AM STILL ASTOUNDED THAT STUDENTS ARE VOTING ON BEHALF OF MY TAX DOLLARS)
The grant from Proctors wasn't brought up in any BOE meeting until after the graduation mess hit...
Who is watching these people?
Incredible..REPLACE THEM ALL

I ONLY WILL NOT FURNISH MY COMPLETE LAST NAME OUT OF RETALIATION TO MY CHILDREN STILL ATTENDING THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT,, SCARY ISNT IT?

Sitting around?? They have massive payroll, insurance, heat, electricity, fuel for buses, unexpected expenses....to start with. I'm sure they can name a few more items they need the money for in one months time. I'd say 3 million is just over two month's expenses.

Consumers and business clients are not responsible for fraud if reported in a timely manner. NBT bank will have to take a charge off of any funds not recovered.

Bolton's Market beats the hell out of Revere Video, those racist malfunctioning-dvd renting bastards.

I can tell you from experience, though, you are all way too shocked by this news. Remember the Michelle Meyers crime spree of the early aughts? Now that was a criminal act that shook the hearts and souls of DCS.

All it takes is a hacker that finds a weak link to steal money electronically. That money could have been moved by someone from Europe, Asia, or Africa, etc. Maybe all of the schools should take a lesson here and up the security on their accounts. And, yes, kudos to NBT bank for getting back most of the money. It's my guess that they will continue trying to recover the rest.

Mary L,
Who taught you how to use a computer? I see you've copied and pasted this rant of yours on every news site this side of the Mississippi.
Anyways,, you must be looking for every opportunity you get to bring up the topic of graduation. Get over it already tuts.

kthxbye,

Jary.......WTEN and WNYT are considered "every news site this side of the Mississippi"

A little exaggerated isn't that statement? Ha Ha Ha

And yea, if you call making two comments "every opportunity" -GO ME!

This was still America, home of free speech last I checked,,,,maybe I just opened the door for you to pose your opinion of graduation being moved to Proctors, after we taxpayers installed air conditioning, new lighting in the gym, it been good enough for all us others who graduated from that building,,, you obviously are one of the many who has flocked to our dear district from somewhere else,,,,

No, its retarded, because no one cares who you are. Secondly, do you really think your kids teachers will fail your kids because you exercised your freedom to speak? You're just paranoid and looking for someone to blame your paranoia on.

And guess what, Mary L - 18 year-old students can vote in regular elections. Sorry to tell you that right isn't reserved exclusively for yourself. Also, your use of "out of retaliation" is completely wrong.

I don't think she was refering to regular elections. I don't remember hearing about a public referendum on the issue.

My point was that Duanesburg shouldn't have $3 million dollars just laying around. It should have been earning interest for the benefit of the school district.

And yes, I remember Michele Myers and her petty vendettas. I was not unhappy when the police ended her reign.

How do you know if it wasn't earning interest?

How could this have been done? Well, if you EVER gave me a check for something, I would now have all the info I need to pull money from your account. It would not be until you noticed the transactions or had a check bounce that you would know that I'd pilfered your account. I could use YOUR checking account and routing number to pay MY Discover bill. Of course, my name (or who-ever's name I used (remember identity theft?) would be traced to identify ME (or my ID victim) as the one who hit your account.
