Using that silly logic, if you are black, gay, r a single mother then everyone in those categories should spend all their life in NYC, where supposedly people are more tolerant.
Hell no. Nobody pays my bills but me, I don't give a pig's bottom what people think or say. People here can be Republican if they want to, I have no problem with it. I enjoy Cortland, and I'm black and gay.
White, Straight, Republican. All I can say after:" Nobody pays my bills but me" is:

I live outside od Cortland and know of so much stuff that our tax money supports there r so many people on dss selling there food stamps for drugs instead of feeding there children so many getting money for housing not the greatest in some places but still they have the ability to work they should make them do community work pick trash do something with there time instead of sitting on there ass! as for the meth and crack and herion issues they keep busting them they snitch on others doing it so it keeps the cycle going in circles! South Ave, Union St,Frederick St where there have crack dealers coming from Syracuse using the house or rooms to deal out of then u have 79 Central another shit hole of Cortland if the Police would do there job instead of making deals with all the users!

i have lived in cortland ny for 18 years now yes this town has its ups and downs but every town / cities do no matter where ur from its got its days and no one should judge anyone just bc of the town or city that they live in u dont know there story or where they are originally from so u shouldnt judge any one just bc of what u hear or read on facebook or the internet period. yes cortland ny may not be the best town or city to live in but to some of us this is home and if u dont like this town / city then pack ur shit and get the hell out of here plan and simple as that have a great night

you know I have lived in Cortland my entire life and yes things are getting worse they are by far not close to some places people live. If all you negative nancies would pull together and focus on the bigger problems and try to fix them maybe people and towns would not go down hill. I believe that though things here are not the greatest no matter where you go you will find an issue, a problem, people you don't like, things that are unfair, and so on. Guess what life is not fair and it never will be for anyone you need to figure out the reason behind the problem and start there. Like so many others you judge based on what you hear why not find out for yourself there are people in this County that are here to help those who can not do it alone.

^^^^^ Trust me.. no ONE from outside of Cortland has an opinion about this place unless they have lived here ( or spent time here!) This place doesn't even register on the map! No jobs, nothing to do.. cold, crappy weather. No one would choose Cortland for a vacation... Trust me, we've lived here.. and smart enough to get the hell out!
I got out 11 years ago because of the reasons you mentioned. Whenever I have to go back there I completely regret having to do so. Great friends live there but the other reasons to stay away are very powerful. Plus, I can't believe how rundown the houses have become.

Drug's and the pushers R the worst things this Town has EVER seen.Another VICTIM to heroin overdose two days ago.Instead of worrying about the dumb stuff why don't we get the heroin dealers and lock em up for 10/20yrs.They kill people everyday and get a smack ON the hand.Any other crime in this drug infested city and they throw the book at you.Get some REAL law enforcement to show the locals how it's done.Everybody went to school together.Enough said about this spit IN the eye of a favoritism Town.

I agree completely. Anyone who feels safe in Crapland, NY has his head in the sand or way up where the sun don't shine. The good ole boys who run the dump are all high school punks who got each others backs. The Standard is worthless birdcage liner that protects the corruption. Gerry tried to get people's attention but they shut him down.

I hear you. I lived in that dungheap for 6 years. Panhandlers and used needles on every block of downtown. Those loser legislators wanted a free needle exchange. Young punks from downstate have wrecked TC3. That's where the drugs come from.
