Dear Grant Parish school superintendent and school board members: Having served on the Grant Parish School Board in the early 1990s, when the present parish-owned school bus system was established, based on my knowledge and experience, the old Futrell Chevrolet building in Colfax cannot be purchased and renovated in order to move the present ...

Mr. Willett is certainly entitled to his opinion, like wise so is anyone else that comments! But to call Mrs Jackson or any other the board members BULLY is so immature . If folks want to have an opinion make sure all the facts are gathered BEFORE you make public comments! My understanding is the building will have many uses other than just a bus barn! However all those with a sour taste about this buy, should empty their piggy banks.....get your filing fee together and declare your desire to run for School Board member of your district!!! However, do remember there is more to it than attending a monthly meeting and showing up at a few ballgames!!!!!!! If Mr Willett is so convinced the School Board is not operating to the best of it's ability .....then get your yard signs ready!!!!!

Would you please apraise us of the FACTS:
1. What is wrong with the current location?
2. Why is the proposed location so much better?
3. Was a feasibility study done; where are the results?
4. Was a DEQ inspection done? If so who paid for it? If not, will one be done and who will pay for it?
5. Was the the opinions of the taxpayers considered and the reasons why this is such a profitable move presented to them? I.e. an public announcement in the Chronicle? After all, it is their money that will pay for this purchase.
6. How does this benefit the schools, the school buses and the bus drivers?
7. What other uses will this location provide and who will benefit from/by these uses?
8. Was any other property currently owed by the GPSB considered as an alternate or new site if one is so needed?
9. To call those who have an "uninformed" or a personal opinion immature because their opinions are counter to yours does not make you more mature.

Each of these questions were addressed at the ADVERTISED OPEN MEETING of the GPSB. Perhaps you should have been in attendance. My maturity comment had nothing at all to do with lack of knowledge, instead it has to do with the term BULLYING in reference to the Superintendent and Board Members! I have had a true concern about this whole ordeal and I made it my business to ask those associated with the GPSB questions, the answers I got satisfied my concerns....that is the whole point of my replies to you CI.....stop hiding behind TOPIX, stirring and fueling the fire! You certainly enjoy displaying your above average intellect, with your " business mind"........your questions! Call Mrs Jackson and she will provide you with all the answers you ask.......not so sure your really interested in answers....again your just a promoter of conflict and people of that nature usually aren't after real facts....You just enjoy the game! With your superior attitude I would strongly suggest you get on board with Mr. Willett and get your yard signs designed! Oh and this might just interest you....had you attended the meeting you may have noticed that the Central Office is popping at the seams.....not enough room to hold meetings.....teachers have to have meetings in shifts due to lack of space ...workshops are held in shifts due to same type problem and NO you can't always hold workshops in school lunchrooms, gyms, etc. It was my understanding that this problem could be looked at with the office space available at the Futrells property. Funny how the taxpayers paid for the GPSO to have a new jail...new Civil Department etc.....but the GPSB has money to cover this purchase and still all the whining !!!! Such a mystery to me, you?

Thank you for clarifying some of my answers. I will certainly take you up on your suggestion to call the GPSB for more information. As to the GPSB vs the GPSO. You are comparing apples to oranges. It might also interest you to know that the new jail and civil office were built under the previous administration and have no bearing on the current one. However, in defense of the previous administration, both buildings were needed.

No GPSB and GPSO are not apples and oranges...you simply have ties with the GPSO and your loyalties are there (so to speak). As I stated before to you; "conflict" is not my cup of tea...so I will refrain from responding to anymore of your comments ~ Interested Citizen. I strongly feel your concerns and doubts should be answered by the GPSB. If your naive enough to think that NOT ALL folks in this Parish were in favor of the New Jail and New Civil Office Suites then you are fooling yourself( votes cast showed that). But I'll not take those issues(not all where in favor and why they weren't in favor) to task with you; those issues and those details are history; said and done with. Our citizens of the Parish have adjusted and we have moved on past all that. The same would and will happen with the GPSB issues, when folks such as yourself stop
complaining, stop creating conflict and accept the changes; try encourage instead of destroying what the official are attempting to do. May you have a change of heart about your willingness to add to conflict....I could bring up where "conflict" has gotten you..but since I HAVE NO IDEA WHO YOU ARE (yeah right) I'll just leave that be. I shouldn't take part in conflict and gossip since I am so strongly against both! So I won't! Best of Luck to you!

Your personal attacks not withstanding, I have nothing against change. I encourage change whenever I see a benefit. The "officials" are elected by those who feel they will adequately represent them and their interests. I just happen to disagree with this particular decision because I do not see where there will be a beneficial outcome to the taxpayers or the the students who go to school in this parish. And why should the citizens of the parish have to "adjust" to anything if they are not in favor of it?
