The Tea Party was founded on the philosophy of the atheist Ayn Rand. To understand the Tea Party, we need to take a long hard look at Ayn Rand. Ayn rand idolized the industrial ansd business tycoons of her day. If the tycoons like something, so did Rand. If the tycoons hated something, so did Rand. Ayn Rand despised Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment Insurance, and wanted all these programs abolished. Ayn Rand was a snooty elitist. Rand said, "The poor and the working class are parasites feeding on the wealth accumulated by their intellectual superiors." Ayn rand despised Christianity for teaching love and compasssion. Ayn rand said, "Christianity is a sign of weakness in a capitalist society." Ayn Rand said, "Social Security and Unemployment Insurance are hammocks that the people relax in, and they encourage laziness and a reluctance to work." Tell that to your 80 year old Grandpa.

Bob Barr(R) was a raging bombastic conservative Congressman from Georgia. Bob Barr wrote the Defense of Marraige Act and got it passed into Law.
Barr has seen the light and changed his position. Now Bob Barr is sorry he wrote the DOMA and is working hard to repeal it. This spring Barr was selcted as the Keynote Speaker at the Gay & Lesbian Log Cabin Republican Convention in Dallas, Texas. Bob Barr said in his speech that he is now a Libertarian and he referenced Ayn Rand. John McCain's daughter also spoke at the Convention of Gay & Lesbian Republicans. The Log Cabin Republicans also said they filed the law suit in Federal Court to repeal the Military's policy, "Don't ask, Don't tell".

Search; Grover Norquist - "starve the beast"
Grover says, "I want to starve the beast(Federal Government) down to a size that will fit in my bath tub and then drown it." Republican Grover Norquist sounds like a true enemy of the state.
His statement, advocating the annihilation of the Federal government, verges on treason.
Search; Grover Norquist - Tea Party
Grover's scheme is to starve the Federal Government of revenue to the point that Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and all other social safety net programs must be abandoned. Grover has 235 Republican Congressmen signed on his pledge, "never to raise taxes", for any reason under the sun, including wars and natural disasters. Grover threatens these Republicans with running a Tea Party candidate against them in their election primaries, if they ever cross him. Grover is the UNelected, creepy, beady eyed, dictator of the Republican Party. You can tell from the rodental gleam in the man's eyes that he is no good. Why are these Republicans in league with Norquist, when they all took an oath to defend the United States against all enemies, both foreign and DOMESTIC?

The best advice I could give a preacher would be to take God back to Church and out of the political arena before both of them get smeared.
Jesus did not like people praying in public, "to be seen of men." Tea Party Republicans doing this don't impress me either.

There is a phenomenon in American politics today like none we have seen before, the Tea Party. Most thinking people who have analyzed it agree that the Tea Party is a mix of people from the struggling lower middle class frightened for their future under the existing political-economic order, the Christian Right, and Libertarians. Middle class Christians alignment with the Libertarians is inexplicable unless it is that they do not know what Libertarianisms core values really are.
Though they mask it with lofty-sounding rhetoric that proclaims a commitment to personal freedom and individual responsibility, Libertarians are elitists, and their socio-economic philosophy is vicious in concept, predicated on brutal survival of the strongest Social Darwinism tinged with both eugenics and subliminal racism. It is morally indefensible.
The bible of Libertarian doctrine is Murray N. Rothbards book The Ethics of Liberty. In it, Rothbard stated in the free society, no man may be saddled with the legal obligation to do anything for another, since that would invade the formers rights; the only legal obligation one man has to another is to respect the other mans rights. By this maxim, there should be no taxation to support the aged, the poor, dependent children, etc. In the free society that Libertarians envision, there would be no Social Security, no Medicare or Medicaid, no unemployment compensation, no government-mandated workplace safety precautions, no workmans compensation insurance, no minimum wage law, no laws against child labor, and no tax-funded public schools. Government would provide no welfare of any kind. Individuals, no matter what their age, disability, or hard luck, would have to fend for themselves or beg for private charity; those for whom charity was not forthcoming would die.
Libertarians take this harsh concept of personal freedom even further. Rothbard was sincere when he wrote,Applying our theory to parents and children, this means that a parent does not have the right to aggress against his children, but also that the parent should not have a legal obligation to feed, clothe, or educate his children, since such obligations would entail positive acts coerced upon the parent and depriving the parent of his rights. The parent therefore may not murder or mutilate his child, and the law properly outlaws a parent from doing so. But the parent should have the legal right not to feed the child, i.e., to allow it to die. The law, therefore, may not properly compel the parent to feed a child or to keep it alive.
If this doesnt seem chillingly familiar, it should: Rothbard merely reformulated the logic used by Nazi eugenicists to justify the killing by starvation of several thousand handicapped German children into Libertarian terms. Many good, middle class Christian Germans who supported the Nazi Partys rise to power later claimed that they thought what Hitler said in Mein Kampf was merely rhetoric, and did not think that the Nazis really intended to put it into practice. Americans dare not make the same mistake with the Libertarians who are using the Tea Party to hijack the Republican Party and use it as their Trojan Horse.

But what is the answer to dealing with the welfare dependent/luxury-habituated underclass that capitalism tempered with compassion has created?
#17 May 19, 2012
The libertarians act like they are for personal freedom but in reality its unlimited and unrestricted corporationism behind the curtains
#18 May 22, 2012
I know some people who are welfare dependent, but I don't know any who are "luxury-habituated." A lot of the people on welfare are the "strong back and weak mind" type for which there are no jobs these days. Or if there are jobs, the jobs are hundreds of miles from the people. Just look at what happened to a lot of the common laborers who lost their jobs when the tobacco factories closed in Danville.
It is a difficult problem, but one that we can solve without the Libertarian "let 'em starve" approach.

A lot of opponents of the neo-conservative / Libertarian / Christian fundamentalist Right today pay far too much attention to Ayn Rand and not enough to Rothbard and preachers like Gary North, who wants an economy like the one favored by Rothbard and Rand and government by theocracy, a sort of "Christian" version of the Taliban.
A lot of people in the Tea Party mistakenly think that Rothbard and Rand were against welfare (which they were) and for the working people. They were not. Ayn Rand hated the working class, as did Rothbard and his mentor, the Austrian-Jewish economist Ludwig von Mises. They believed in a Social Darwinist society where there should be a master class that ruled over and drew its wealth from everybody else, who would work for wages barely high enough to keep the workers from starving. When someone could no longer work to support the privileged class, then the used up workers were "free" to starve.
