So don't complain about rolling blackouts when transmission capacity is insufficient, or even higher prices when higher cost routes have to be used.

These will be the same people who complain that there are black-outs. Here is some advice for you folks. Shut-up and let them put the lines in. If you would have b1tched when the developers were rapeing Bucks county with hundreds of homes per development, maybe you wouldn't need new lines now.

Right on..! No one seems to bitch when developers buy up good farm land and throw up condos, or houses. And no-one bitches when a new mall is put up, but try to do something that will actually help them, and here they are complaining. I hope the line goes in and I hope every name that opposed it is recorded so when they call and bitch about not having power, they can be put at the bottom of the list to be restored.

"Renardo Hicks, an attorney for SEPTA, said the authority is willing to negotiate with the utility over use of the rail bed.''SEPTA has no objection to PPL using that route,'' he said"

PPL as said by others will do WHAT they want, WHEN they want, HOW they want & WHERE they want.

PPL has NO compassion for anything other than the bulge in their pockets from the huge profits and the jingle jangle of coin.

Their hired crony, Paul Wirth, notwithstanding the big hole in his back where the hand controls his statements, stated ''We really are a company that tries to do the right thing for the environment while still giving people the power they need,'' he said.

After that statement I am surprised no one got hurt from the lightning bolt striking him.

After that statement I am surprised no one choked on their spit from laughing so hard.

PPL speaks with forked tongue. A billion dollar company with billion dollar profits can't put 2 heads together & come up with a solution to benefit EVERYONE.

Only themselves.

i am very disappointed at the negative headlines that your newspaper gave to our PUC hearing coverage. the title makes it sound like the room was full of angry people, rather than the well spoken, educated and gregarious people who really spoke at both hearings. shame on the morning call for distorting the climate of our PUC hearing.also i believe there were 200-250 people at the afternoon hearing and about 200 at the evening one. karen bedics springfield twp supervisor

It would be nice if you had any idea what you were talking about before you posted.

Yes, some of the transmission lines in PA carry power for New York and New Jersey. But if you'll recall, the 2003 Northeast Blackout began in... Ohio. It then spread to New York, Maryland, Michigan, parts of PA, and even into Canada. So let's not pretend that an outage elsewhere can't lead to an outage "in our own backyards". It's in everyone's best interests to shore up the power grid everywhere.

allow me to clarify- the people i am referring to as speakers (myself included), spoke AGAINST ppl's proposed cross country route and substation location, which runs through wetlands, mature forests and floodplains. i was complimenting our speakers on how well they gave their opinions to judge jones, the ppl and intervener's solicitors and everyone present at the hearing. Also, the morning call did not mention that two of our legislators attended the hearings- state representative paul clymer and state senator robert wonderling

Thank you Karen. The "in bed with PPL" comments demonstrate that some people just want to complain about everything with abosulutely no knowledge of the facts and no participation in the process. Sad.

Right, so why immediately make such a negative and disparaging comment about someone you don't know, in a situation where you don't know any of the facts? That is what makes me sad....

Of course nobody "chocked on their spit" after Mr. Wirth's comments. But a lot of us are chocking after reading your blog....

"Not In My Back Yard" NIMBY is the acronym that environmentalist use on people that decide to only take action once it affects them.

Unfortunatley it is too late for these Nimbys, if they really care for these issues of over devolpement and energy gluttony they will help focus on the countries denial of renewable energy such as solar and wind, it seems that PPL won't even try that route.

Also, I preddict the MorningCalls power will be flickering on and off all day; some guy will be up by the peregrines nest with a telescope and a power switch lauging his ass off.

''Why would any organization, much less one with the resources that PPL has available, choose to destroy the tranquil, natural, scenic beauty of this area in a manner at complete odds with the community?''

Now, I could be wrong here, I don't live in the area but after READING THIS ARTICLE, I tend to lean with PP&L. The reason being that I believe we have a LOT OF SPOILED PEOPLE who transplant themselves in areas of PA and build, build, build homes (thereby raping our farmlands and erecting their eyesores, yes EYESORES of McMansions). All this build, build, building requires ELECTRICITY, ELECTRICITY ELECTRICITY. Enter PP&L Corp..........you need more power? We'll give you more power.......we need to erect more lines. Now these very same people who burdened our once wide open spaces want to call the shots even more! Sorry, folks, I think you all made your bed, NOW GO LAY IN IT.
