Went to Dollar general today-had about 10 items in my cart & a coupon to go with each item. While I was waiting in line there was a line stretching to the back of the store & 1 girl checking people out while the store manager was standing outside smoking. She finally came in to help the poor girl & when I got up to check out 5 of my coupons wouldnt scan so the manager came over to help-which took about 5 minutes for her to even come & help. Then because she had to punch the coupons in manually she started cussing in front of me & all the rest of the customers.Things like,"Jesus Christ your making my job harder" & other such things. Then told me she wished they would make coupons illegal.I told her how unprofessional she was being & that it wasnt right for her to cuss & throw a fit in front of customers & she shut up.But seriously-its her job to check people out, scan coupons & not make people wait in line for hours while she stands outside smoking. Then her rudeness & cussing in front of all the customers!Wow!I will be calling in to make a report of this & do my DG shopping at the new one in Martin where the cashiers & managers are not rude, are helpful & nice.I am appalled at this woman!

I stopped going to the Dollar General in Dresden because of the general unfriendliness and terrible customer service. Glad you had the balls to stand up to the nasty treatment!

I have never had a problem with the store and I like the employees, and the store. Its more convenient than driving all the way to martin. If ya don't like it, go somewhere else, I'm sure it won't hurt their business or their feelings.

Maybe you should have went to DG when they weren't so busy. They barely have enough help to keep the store open to begin with and the TN laws do provide for 15 minute breaks in the morning and afternoon for working people. What she does on her break is none of your business. Besides, did you ever think of how much time you take up for the customers behind you with all of your coupons that have to be scanned?

I wish everybody would have to work with the public at least one day and see how hard it is. I work with the public five days a week, and it isn't easy!!! You deal with some of the rudest people, and can't please any of them!! I don't even want to imagine how it is to be a manager and have to deal with even more crap!!!!

Actually TN Law does not give you the 15 min breaks in morn and afternoon. TN law only required employees to a 30 min lunch break. Some store policies will allow 15 break but if the store is busy and such they should not be breaking

that is correct sarah. employers only HAVE to give one break every 8 hours of work. it they take you off the clock it has to be at least 30 minutes. the can do 20 minutes if they keep you on the clock. i hate it when other people (not you sarah) talk about laws that they have no real knowledge of. lol

Wow.All I can say is wow at some of you.For your information I have worked with the public before & I know that nomatter how hard it may be or how rude the customer is that your job is to be polite, not rude. The fact was,the "manager" was pissed that she finally had to come in from her smoke break to help(when i pulled up she was outside smoking & by the time i got to the register-a good 20 minutes later she was STILL outside smoking). Then when she got to the register to help she was pissed that I had coupons & that she couldnt figure out how to get them to scan. Then to cuss in front of all the people & tell me that she hopes coupons become illegal was beyond unprofessional of her.As for how much "time I take up with my coupons that need to be scanned"-when I have a LOT of coupons I kindly let others go in front of me but this instance I only had a few(under 10) coupons & the manager had a fit over that. The whole experience was distasteful & the line was long before I ever got up & before the manager decided to come help.Say what you want about that store but I have never had a bad experience with the store in Martin even when they were busy & never had a manager standing outside smoking for over 20 minutes & cussing & being disrespectful to people.

Been working witht he public for 20 years..the labor board states every employee is required a break after 2 hours of working and after 4 hours of working at least a thirty min lunch. You cant go past 6 hours for your meal. Every emoployee that works whether in a factory or in the public deserves a break. How would you feel if you worked 8 or 9 hours a day and only had one break.

TN laws say that before an employee reaches the 6th hour, he or she must take at least a 30 minute break

If someone works 8 or more hours, they're legally entitled to an hour break. Some places do an hour long break and some simply give a 30 and 2, 15 minute breaks.

hey, at IFCO in martin they work an 8 hour shift with only 1 (one) thirty minute break for the entire day. they in accordance with the minimum state and federal laws. instead of listening to what everyone says and looking at unreliable places. vistit the department of labor. then you can get correct and accurate information people.
