You could put any incumbent up there and people will be angry in this economy. The problem is that people are often lashing out indiscriminately, without really examining the facts or officeholders' voting records. If Utahns would examine Hatch's voting record, they would see that his votes reflect their views in the vast majority of cases. It is also true that Hatch is viewed as a power on the national stage, much more so than any other member of Utah's congressional delegation. The U.S. News & World Report recently rated the senator as one of the nation's top leaders. In tough times, it is easy to rant and have a "throw the bums out" kind of mentality. It also is intellectually lazy. The better approach is to seriously examine each incumbent's record and effectiveness on the job before deciding whether to re-elect that person. That may not be as fun as ranting, but it one of the duties of citizenship.

Senator Hatch's voting record does reflect our views most of the time. But I agree with the lady in the article. Most of these politicians have been in for too long. I think there should be a cap on the number of years a representative or senator can serve. Just like the president. Its not that we dont agree with their track records in Washington, we just want to see new faces who will possibly push new ideas through the system. Ideas that might help fix out nation.

TERM LIMITS. PERIOD. No need to elaborate. Get the head-in-the-trough morons out of office. Just exactly how stupid is the average voting 'American' citizen? It is a simple and crystal clear issue. Our SERVANTS are living the life of LUXURY AND DECADENCE at our expense. STOP THE INSANITY and lets get the real decision making power back in the hands of the taxpayers.

Not to mention most all of them have other jobs on the outside of the Legislature. Which means they will be eventually getting 2 retirements. One of them funded by us.
