BJ has a record of fiscal responsibility and constitutional principles.

Karen Stockley supports giving in-state tuition to illegal aliens. BJ knows that Colorado taxpayers have already generously given a free K-12 education to illegal aliens, and that enough is enough.

I have witnessed Rep Nikkel's willingness to assist her constituents when they are wrongly treated by Municipal governments. She is truly a representative of the people not just a politician.

BJ Nikkel represents her district well. She has accomplished alot on government transparency issues, even as a minority member of the house.

I have seen BJ in action working for folks in the district as well as dealing with some of the over-all state issues. She is a person of the highest integrity, simply stated she does what is right for the district and the state. She doesn’t look at some poll and then figure out what to do!

Well, let's see...Karen Stockley has stated on the record that she would have SUPPORTED ALL the Dirty Dozen tax increases on small businesses and supports more taxes for big businesses too. Karen Stockley has also stated on the record that she would have opposed the education reform bill this year! I think Karen Stockley will say anything to get elected. Also, Stockley supposedly supports Second Amendment rights but the Firearms Coalition of Colorado calls Karen Stockley "A TRUE ENEMY of gun owner rights and a vehement anti-gun candidate who ALWAYS opposes gun owner rights..." I think you've been duped, Jane.

B. J. Nikkel, running in House District 49, is not the advocate for taxpayers and children that she claims to be. First of all, you don’t go out and plan to sue the Larimer County Sheriff’s office for $10 million (she did this in 2001), putting the screws to the county taxpayers on the expectation that your son’s arrest charges will be reduced. Secondly, you don’t brag about the awards you have received for pointing out deficiencies in social programs that you have worked consistently to de-fund. Thirdly, you don’t vote to derail the funding that would help disabled and disadvantaged children. And fourthly, you don’t undermine families’ private reproductive choices by working to pass a “personhood” amendment that would give legal rights to the 150- cell zygote that has yet to implant in the womb.
Karen Stockley is the advocate we need in the state house. The mother of five and the owner of a small business, she knows the demands of rearing a family in Colorado and working full time. She worries about the same things your family does, such as how our state continues to undermine education with inadequate and poorly managed resources.
Karen will be work to improve the quality of education, increasing performance while managing the bottom line. And she will work to keep Colorado a beautiful place to live. Karen will fight to protect the things that we love about living in Colorado. She is a strong advocate for us. Vote for Karen Stockley District 49.

You're right, betcol. Those cops who shoot at unarmed teenagers at a party and the prosecutors who bully people into pleading guilty to lesser charge by threatening them with more serious charges to cover their hind-ends all have our best interests at heart, and we should all support that behavior. I can only assume by your post that you will be supporting the retention of Gilmore and Blair, and that selfish people like Timothy Masters are out try to "put the screws to the taxpayers".

You cannot point to a single action that B.J. Nikkel has done to try and "defund" these services--it is not all about money anyway. Simply because we expect these departments to run efficiently does not mean they should be allowed to commit abuses. B.J. has done a great job to shed light on defficiencies of HHS, and of abuses at the Platte Valley Youth Detention Facility. Your implication that these abuses are acceptable unless we give them more money are inexcusable.

Karen Stockley has her hand out to the state for more education money. What has she done to raise revenue from the Thompson School District itself--the consituency that should be paying TSD? Nothing. She has been in a position as a board member to do something about, and has done nothing. I have no patience for school district officials who complain about infringements on local control, and constantly have their hands out to the state and feds for more money.

Which Karen Stockley should we believe? The Stockley who sent me an email stating that she would have supported the "Dirty Dozen" tax increases this year, or the Stockley who stated at the Estes Park debate that she would have opposed them?

Which Karen Stockley should we believe? The Stockley who states that she is a Second Amendment supporter, or the Stockley who received an F rating from the NRA and was labeled as an "Enemy of the Second Amendment" and "Actively works against firearm rights" by the Firearms Coalition?

Karen Stockley has revealed herself to be nothing but a left-wing liar who will say anything to try and get elected. Certainly not what America needs, not what Colorado needs, and definitely not the kind of person the 49th HD needs representing them.

Stockley puts all the partisan games behind to listen to all the different viewpoints in the district.

I've spoken to Karen, and she really is the moderate that she advertises herself to be. It's easy to label her if you've never met her; go watch her debates and see for yourself where she stands instead of parroting talking points. Nikkel is too far right for this district, as evidenced by her support of Amendment 62. She also has barely shown up in our district since her appointment, at least not until election time, whereas Karen has been working hard in her community for many years. Vote Stockley!
