Hey Frank---30,000-50,000 people? How about 3,000-5,000 people? And how about doing a breakdown of how much businesses along the route lost? We'll never know will we? I will admit the race was very interesting to watch.

on tv, because you could actually follow it for more than the blink of an eye. This is a made-for-television event - next time just rent out a studio and pay Estes Park residents $10 to leave town and pay the business owners the $50,000 you had to spend to get this to Estes Park.

Luckily I spent the day in RMNP. After returning I searched for video coverage to see what I missed. 12000 bike racers and 50000 spectators??? Where? You shut the town down for this? I saw the "race" zoom by in a matter of seconds, followed by cars with bikes on top. There looked to be more bikes riding cars than bikes being ridden. I'll bet that if your local officials publish an honest accounting of the costs to stage this event and the town's businesses total their gains & losses because of this event, the bottom line will equal monumental fiasco.

as they keep cycling away from Estes Park until they reach their true destination, a democratic national convention, it's all good. We shall survive.
