Hickey used as far as different school mill levies are moot. He is citing school districts that are 20 times larger than Estes Park. That's like comparing apples to oranges. What are the mill levy numbers for Kersey? Valley? Lyons? Yuma? Brush?
Looking at the test scores of this district I would not drop another dime into a failing system. If Amendment 66 passes I am OK with that but to funnel more taxpayer money into a broken Park R3 is not logical.
And what if Amendment 66 and the mill levy passes (God forbid) then we the taxpayers are hit with a double tax so asking for a mill levy to Estes park residents is wrong on many levels.
Start producing above mediocre results and maybe folks will think twice. Learn to treat your employees with integrity and start involving the community in choices for administrative positions. This internal hiring has not worked for at least 10 years since which hurts the very children the district should be helping. In the long run hiring internally does not save money since administrators flee Estes every year then we are back at square one.
Then there is the irresponsible handling of the old elementary school. But that's another topic.
