Paul is following in the footsteps of the great Mario Sepe, who was also the safety officer in Lowell in the 1960's.
Good job, Paul.

Nice to see the heart of the meaning "To Protect and to Serve."

Paul, hope you're touring the Schools to teach about the dangers of Water. I know it is near winter and nobody is is out swimming in unguarded areas, But with winter come ice... Scariest event in my life was when i was a young boy of maybe ten. I was on the banks of the Concord by the Sixth arch railroad bridge. Out of the blue, i slipped down the embankment and skidded halfway across the river to the point where the water wasn't frozen solid. I figure the river is 110 feet across there, so the ice ran out from the shore a good 55 feet. i slid 50 feet across that ice before both me and my heart stopped. I hope you tell the children that while ice might look safe and inviting, it can be treacherous.

I was a young kid in the highlands a few(several) years back when an Officer Corcoran brought me home for the beating of a lifetime. I thank God every day he did. He saved my future. I am a Police Officer now in a small town and think of this officer often and try to do to others as he did to me. I don't know if it is the same Officer, but if so I say thank you for a lesson well learned and a life well spent

Thank you for all your kind comments. I'm sorry that Chief Taylor opted to eliminate the position of Safety Officer when he became Chief. Personally, I think it was an error in judgement. But, this led me to consider other options and I decided to retire from LPD. Thanks again for your kind words. I tried my best when I was the Safety Officer. Part of me wishes I was still there running safety events again.
