Well it matters because it takes forever to get across the bridge during rush hour.

The main problem isn't so much the bridge as the traffic patterns around the bridge. If, for instance, the light onto Pawtucket Blvd. was green longer, the bridge wouldn't back up onto Middlesex St. which causes gridlock onto Wood St. etc........

Or, and I might as well be wishing for the moon here, there was an overpass for the traffic turning left on to Pawtucket, so that the bridge traffic never had to stop for a light, then there would be no problem. I know it's a lot to ask, but it'd be cheaper than a new bridge...

There is a police man making his career giving out tickets on the approach to the Rourqe Bridge from the downtown side of Middlesex St. He says that the wide area as you enter the bridge is only one lane. I've lived in Lowell almost all of my life and I (and everyone else I know) think it is 2 lanes then you merge (every other car)into one lane. Anyone with any ideas can help me with this? It takes long enough now, with one lane approach it will take twice as long!!!

Not many, a few, but at one lane it's gonna take a long time to get across this bridge. Maybe if all write to Rita Mercier (she's the only one that does anything for the citizens) they would change this??? Watch out, You might get a ticket next!!!! Laenny

Clearly you've never driven on it, if your stuck in traffic in the bridge it literally moves up and down and scares the shit out of me everyday. I always think I'm going to be a reported body found in the river after the bridge collapses. I call it the patchy bridge because literally there's so many of the patches of I don't know what, it's barely together. Every day I'm surprised it's still standing.

Tewksbury has more closed bridges and more un paved roads than lowell. And let's not forget all of Tewksbury's citizens, pure red neck white trash.
