So much for being a newspaper. This article is just a lame free ad. Didn't anything important happen in the city?

I know this is nit picking, but can we stop identifying ourselves by the nationality of our ancestors? Three generations ago for each of us makes 8 great-grandparents, and I'll be most people don't know the names of all 8 let alone their nationalities. If you were born in America you are American. Not Italian, because of your last name, not Irish, American. Let's start taking pride in our own culture instead of envying others'.
Hey clown my "IRISH" Parents didnt get to this country till 1961 so quit it with your slick "AMERICAN" talk!!!

he's right, mark.

the music should be turned down a little. it's a small place.

remember, loud music will always drive people away, but people will never leave cause the music wasn't loud enough.

i was in there last week and it need to be turned down a little so people can talk to each other.

Tell your lifelong friends to hire someone with experience running a bar or resturant......get some bartenders that know how to make drinks or pour a pint..... the girl on the bar the night we where in there was clueless and not very pleasant.......it is a nice place to go for a drink or a bite to eat but only if it improves..

Can't speak re The Dub as haven't been to the new joynt (sic), but to eliminate complaints re wait staff such places would be smart to hire only Republicans because of their propensity to respect others and desire to serve people honestly, IMHO. Slainte! Salud!

Irish music is music from Ireland or music made by people from Ireland. The Pouges, Thin Lizzy, Enya, Van Morrison, U2, The Corrs, The Cranberries are a few. Certainly you've heard at least one of those bands. Traditional Irish music is the music of the indigenous people of the island that is still popular today in some circles and Irish pubs. Traditional Irish music includes drinking songs, laments, music for Irish step dancing. If you've ever been to an Irish pub on St. Paddy's you've heard it. Lots of fiddle, tin whistle, hand clapping and foot stomping is used to keep beat.

I don't know about you, but when a downtown business that's been there for 35 years undergoes a major renovation and transfer of ownership, that sounds like news to me. It's right where it belongs, in the "business" section of the paper.

if the owner opened up another high technology company, he would not hire family and friends. he would hire people who are qualified for the job at hand. he sounds like a really smart guy but he has to think of his new business as a business, not just a place for family and friends.

Unlike some of the people leaving comments here who truly need to find some class and learn to spell. Owning a bar is not rocket science. Building successful companies and becoming a well respected businessman and person, sound like a good foundation for a successful bar and pub to me. I seriously doubt there are many other bar owners in Lowell or anywhere else who have the same credentials as Mark. I have had the pleasure of knowing Mark and Eva all my life and they don't deserve the disgust on this forum.
Thank you AVato, atleast there is someone who reads the articles and isn't just wasting their time airing out dirty laundry on here.

Actually she wasn't asked to move on. If it's who I am thinking of she quit due to the bars "atmosphere". Sometimes people aren't afraid to up and leave a place if they aren't being treated fairly nor are comfortable with the feel of a place. I don't know if you have seen the turn around time at BIH but i'm pretty sure no one has lasted more than a few months other than maybe your friend. I have the pleasure of knowing many of the BIH workers current and former and let's just say your views maybe slightly jaded.

NO she was asked to move on..........she left but only because she was asked to or she was going to be fired........she is not what you would call a
reliable worker........
