So can someone please tell me again why the Chelmsford Highway Department has two foreman (Larry Ferreira and Joe Ericksen) each making around $150K a year, a highway department Superintendant (John Long) who makes close to that amount, as well as a DPW Director (Jim Pearson) and we still manage to have trucks that are not inspected. I am sure that their nice new take home trucks are all inspected! Talk about top heavy! No wonder why the sander flipped! Time to cut heads Paul!

Ditto on that! Someone is asleep at the wheel ... or would that be four overpaid town employees snoozing? Inexcusable!!!

They are laughing all the way to the bank while some elderly couple is trying to scrape together enough money to pay the taxes to pay these people along with their health care and other benifits, The people retired on social security haven't had an increase in social security in two years plus their health care is going up but thats ok let them eat cake.

Gee, does anyone really believe the crash was solely the result of "road conditions" and had nothing to do with the driver's abilities and nothing to do with the condition of the vehicle?

How many trucks does a small town DPW have anyway? Six is what percentage of that number?

Is anyone in Chelmsford government minimally competent?

Any one want to take a guess as to how much Christophers Towing is going to charge the town for this mess? Christophers scams will put this bill over 20 thousand and the town out of another chunk of change.

Paul,

You better correct the problem now and hold these men, who run the DPW accountable. If I was a selectman I would call an emergency meeting and ask how and why something like this can happen. then place somebody on Non paid leave for their failure to do their job as a manager in this town..

Looks like all the other towns got it right the first time, so whats up with Chelmsford? Too many chiefs making the big bucks? 150K per year and not one of them is responsible enough to get the basic work done. Heck the taxpayers even bought them a brand new building so they can sit in. Feel bad for the Fire Dept, they were the ones who needed the new building but their 4th of July parade fiasco still has people pizzed off. Wonder who thought up that disaster for the FD?...

60 vehicles ! Are you kidding me !!!

I now understand how they earn so much,
skip on the basics such as inspection stickers and it will leave more for them.
"Look Boss, See how much money we saved the town". "Can we have a raise now".
To bad we can't take the money out of their pay checks to pay for the stickers. It's the tax payers who will have to reach into their pockets a little deeper once again.

The driver sould have done the proper checks before driving the truck. Its called a circle check under dot guidelines.Maybe its time to chang management to a person with fleet service management

They do not have to follow the Dot regs. They don't have to follow OSHA either. They only apply to the poor slobs like me.

All cities and towns come under DOT and as far as OSHA is concern it's different, it's the state AG but same rules.

Sadly I have seen the sanding trucks driving way too fast for the road conditions. Just slow it down.
