Quote.."School Committee member Ronald Mercier said rising day-care costs and a tough economy have more families turning to full-day kindergarten."

Taxpayer funded day care.

Let's get a full day preschool program for those kids who need it due to development concerns.

Dracut needs not only full time kindergarten, but also a pre-k program - every other town has one. If Dracut wants to attract young families who will stay here, and be the tax base (since God knows, the selectmen will never let businesses into dracut), we need to start offering the education that parents want and need for their children.

We also need an extended day program. Not funded by the town but sponsored by the town so that children won't need to go on the bus to another location. I won't go into the pathetic excuse of a recreation program we have here. If I could have afforded it, I would SO not be in Dracut - a town run by a bunch of short sighted hacks.

There are private child cares in Dracut and in Lowell like myself that offer full day preschool programs by certified preschool teachers. For example check out my website ( www.pumpkinpatchfcc.com )for an idea of what is out there, local to you. A large preschool facility is not the only option.
