"a 4.9 percent increase"
"to maintain current minimum school staffing and service levels".

Further down:
" "Everyone will benefit from a better educational system. It will pull the town forward as a whole."
" And I think we'll find out if people in the community have appetite for change"

This is the garbage they try to sell taxpayers.
They go from saying they want to maintain current services to moving the town forward with change. What are taxpayers to believe. The only thing that they can, public services just want more and more while taxpayers have to adjust by being able to afford less and less. My heart goes out to those on fixed incomes. Younger couples can just work 3 jobs each to feed this madness. So what if they can't afford college for their kids or pay for a vacation every year or two. It's for the community.

I went to dracut schools from 1st grade to graduation from dracut high...very few of us are successful already..why cut more? Dracut schools already don't have a good reputation! A month ago I came across 3 younger girls about 14-15 years old who were clearly messed up on drugs so i curiously asked them where they were from..take a guess..dracut..attends dracut high. How embarrassing!! No more cuts we need more help in these schools so I can be proud of where I graduated from!

So the fact that they are messed up on drugs is the fault of a poor school system and not bad parenting? That's the kind of thing I've come to expect from people these days, especially from parents. It's never their fault and it has nothing to do with the fact that they don't spend enough time parenting their own children, it's the fault of the school system/teachers. The fact is the town does not know how to budget. Most governments don't and why should they? They don't have to budget or live within their means. They have an infinite and ever increasing source of income at the expense of the tax payers. We are currently paying for a new library and a new oversized police station. We have yet to start paying for our larger newly renovated high school and already they're coming back to the well crying poverty. It's time we teach them what a budget is by standing our ground and not allowing them to raise our taxes again.
