I'm just wondering if there is anyone out here that remembers a camp in Pelham, New Hampshire called Saint Mary of the Pines ?

I remember it well. I went every summer for 2 weeks and from the time I was a Midget to a Giant.
Loved it and the nuns and now I am Catholic. Often wonder if it was the influence on me.
Fond memories during a very difficult childhood.

I attended St. Mary's for 4 weeks and Camp Alexander for 4 weeks. Those 8 weeks at camp were the best summers I have ever spent.
The Brother's were great but stern. I wish I had a time machine to go back to those days.

I hated it. It felt more like a missionary. Church 3 times a day is too much when there is no god.

I went to St. Mary of The Pines for a week, the summers of 1948 and 1949, out of the Immaculate Conception parish. Catholic Charities paid for it. It's where I first learned to box. My mother was widowed, with 4 young children, and I think not having me at home for a week gave her somewhat of a break. God knows, she needed it.

I worked there for two summers primarily in the kitchen assisting Cooks Charlie and Enda. Lived with two old men in a small camp building there. There names were Felix and John. My family knew Msgr. Jakul very well and personally. He had a home in N. Falmouth and we visited him there often.

Just drove by where camp used to be and was curious as to its existence, Went there late 40's for a few years. Came from large single mom family in Lowell so was a real treat to get to go swimming and actually do stuff with other kids.

Went every summer when I was 8 to 12 or so. Remember it well. Still think I can make a necklace out of "gimp"! Went with 2 of my brothers in the late 50's, early 60's. Had fun, learned to swim, and "not wet the bed"!!!! Used to live in Lowell.
I can be reached at [email protected]!!!!!

I went there around 1977 and it was the lost miserable week of my life. The fathers were brutal and most of the kids that attended were troubled.

Yes, remember it well, went there in the early 70s. Got picked up at Zayres in Lowell and drove who knows where? As an adult I still don't know where it is, I guess in Pelham? Exactly where, anyone?

Archery, whiffle ball, swimming, Champion of the Week, movies every night, nothing but good memories.

St Mary's was in Pelham Nh on Long Pond, and now has homes built there.
