I agree with that. It was predicted he wouldn't last several years ago.

Well, to be fair, his departure had little to do with his perceived job performance. He's been in charge of several hospitals. Now that Saints' is (eventually) becoming part of covenant, the CEO position is really diminished in terms of power and prestige. Guley is an independent CEO. Staying at a hospital that now falls under someone else's control would be a huge professional step backward.

Meg don't worry your job serving Dunkin Donuts at Saints is safe.

With respect to Mike Guley he will be missed as he was an asset to our community dispite the boys at the Sun who tried to undercut him and the Hospital time and time again because they and "pee wee George Duncan" are in bed with LGH.

Mike good luck to you in the future and thanks for everything.

** First, I would be honored to work at Dunkin Donuts - as they are hard working, ethical people. And I don't think it is necessary to try and insult them.

** Mike maybe missed by you and a few others but to the long term employees at saints I don't see it. I am not employeed at Saints, but know many many that are - and Mike was not an asset but someone that brought employee morale to it's lowest point in 30 years!

I agree with Meg,
Not only long time employees but most of the employees morale has been brought down to the lowest point in 30 years. He didn't do much for the employees except cut benefits and told us if you have been here 5 years, you have been here to long. Not something you want to hear from your CEO when you've been working hard for 20 plus years. Hopefully Covenant will come in and do a clean sweep of all of administration and managers, We need fresh blood and new insights.
no overhaul

There are a good number of new managers and directors, all of whom are enthusiastic, innovative and dedicated to SMC, and what we need as an organization to reach our potential. Before you call for an overhaul of administration, maybe let the dust settle and see how things shake out. We have a great crop of new leaders, many that joined the SMC team within the past year, give them a chance.

I thought this day would never come! Mike Guley did NOTHING for the employees of Saints except bring down morale and take, take, take from us.

Hmm lets see:

Saints had: Sister Loyola, Dr. O'Connor, group brought in to straighten things out (forget the name), Applied Management brought in to teach them how to run the place, Thom Clark brought in, Mike Guley brought in NOW Guimond!

LGH had/has: Bob Donovan, Norm Deschene.

Think Saints needs to bring back the nuns or play nice with LGH and learn how to run a hospital - LOL!

Lily, Don't get me wrong. I'm no Guley fan. All I'm saying is that it's unlikely anyone hired the way he was, brought in from another independent facility, to be at the top of the ladder at this independent facility, would stay once the whole thing falls under someone else's control.

You don't get it.

If Mike did'nt come in and rescue the place we would all be on the outside looking in because thanks to him we have a job today and that is better than the unemployment line.

I getting ready to retire and thanks to Saints(18 years) and Mike Guley I will do it on my terms and not be thrown out in the street.
