You could have at least waited until he was laid to rest before you printed this non relevant story. You have no class.

"...a political operation," says consultant Goldman. A convenient euphemism for what is more generally understood as a political machine.

Why is this story not relevant? He was under investigation for campaign fraud, and I would consider this to be fraud. He has no one to blame but himself for what he did, and that is why he did what he did in Maine.Talk about having no class... but that's something for a different day.

There has to be more to this than the pension issue and campaign spending. I don't think these are the issues that caused this man to end his life.

He also spent $11,468.92 on food and drinks for a May fundraiser at the Montvale Plaza in Stoneham;
You mean his annual "Surprise Birthday Party." This is where his employees gave him birthday cards stuffed with cash to buy promotions and choice positions.

I hope everybody learned a lesson. Alot of employees gave the Sheriff thousends of dollors, and that bought a star ranking for you. He used that money for his PERSONAL use, like eating, drinking, smoking fancy cigars ect.... Hope you qualify for your job title, and be prepared for all the questions YOU will face!

"A candidate would not be able to take his wife and children to dinner because that would be personal use." said Jason Tait, spokesman for the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.

I'm sure he never do anything that dishonest.

DiPaola spent so much on campaign dinners because he just pocketed everybody's cash and paid the bill with campaign funds. He probably raked in $100k per year with this scam. The guys obviously guilty which is why he killed himself. He had more than one trick up his sleeve I can tell you that. It wasn't just dinners that he was making money on. There's more that will come out.

Is Mr. Goldman for real? No opposition and he spent all that money. Compare that amount of money with what DA Gerry Leone spent with no oppostion....a very, very small sum. Goldman was on the campaign payroll, miling the re-election fund for all that he could take. No wonder he is defenidng this huge expenditure on food and drink.

I have to say,he ate well and it showed. The man was like the turnpike,pay as you go. He could have been a body guard,whom you pay for protection. I hope people understand that there is NO need for any Sheriffs in Ma. anymore. I think there could be a movie made from this,after ALL the facts come out. After all they made one called Serpico.
