As a white male in the area I think it is despicable that these pieces of crap got such light sentences. They should all be doing YEARS, not DAYS. Disgusting that they were abke to get away with this.

You said it. White kids are good kids that make mistakes. They can be rehabilitated and contribute back to society someday. They learn from their mistakes
The rest are bad people with bad intentions who don't belong here.

What is this judge thinking ? anger management and community service for charging into someone's home at 2:30 am with the premeditated intent to violently assault a resting family in their own home. Just because the people inside weren't hurt badly , doesn't mean what they did is ANY less than if they had hurt them worse. This is the type of crime that has to be dealt with harshly. If you are not safe in your own home at 2:30 am , maybe it is time to move out of the liberal capital of the world called Massachusetts, befor it's too late!!!

Your absolutely right, too bad the homeowner didn't have a firearm.
Funny how if your Cambodian you get 10+ years, but if your a white middle class American punk you get a slap on the wrist. Rich vs Poor....

Unfortunately, you're getting just the Halloran's side. These boys were invited to come to the house for a fight. They didn't expect to see the parents there. When Mr. Halloran opened the door a fight ensued. As a result two of the boys fell over the threshold of the house and onto the floor. Therefore, the police charged ALL of them with burglary (home invasion). Adam Vurgaropulos was dropped from that charge because he never stepped foot on the porch. As far as the statement in the paper about the victims managing to escape as the attackers fled, there's an actual audio police tape recording of Mrs. Halloran stating to the police "I'm trying to keep them here til you come".
Yes, these boys were railroaded. This event was blown out of proportion for one reason only. It just so happens that the police sargent in charge at the time of the incident had an application in to be the next chief of police. He obviously wanted to make a name for himself. Fortunately, he was not given the position. I'm not saying they didn't do anything wrong. They should have been charged with misdemeanor assault & battery charges. All I'm stating is that there were many lies told to escalate the situation. In fact one of the victim's, Mr. Soracco, testimony was so riddled with lies that the judge threatened to hold in in comtempt.

Those sentences are appalling. A family is attacked in their homes and this is the price? No jail time or a little jail time. At least this will appear on their records and make employment a problem for the rest of their lives.

My heart goes out to the family. If I were them, I would be angered beyond belief at the paltry sentencing. Pathetic legal system.

Whoever said:

And at the recent sentencing hearing, a mother of one of the co-defendants told the girlfriend of Halloran's son to give Mrs. Halloran a message: "I hope her cancer comes back and it kills her."

I hope your son enjoys his time in jail lady! Get a clue! You're a waste of life and your son is a joke! HAHA

your response to this incident is very typical of the many problems existing in society today.. to continously blame others for your own actions and not bear any of the repercussions...

XXX, get a clue. These boys were "invited over for a fight". Even if that were the case you think that it allows them to do whatever they like? You are looking for any type of excuse to let these kids off the hook and its pathetic.

Let's face the facts, these 8 offenders will do nothing productive with their lives going forward. Society should eliminate them, as it should any other vermin, who would force their way into someone's house and start a fight.

The comment, "I hope her cancer comes back and kills her," indicates the intelligence, class, and general position in society. It is one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard. And to think some of the parents even accused the Halloran's of making this all up. Lady, you are trash. Your son is trash. Why don't you both go back to the dumpsters you came from.

I doubt the homeowner himself invited these punks to walk into his house and assault his family. Too bad the homeowner wasn't armed. He could have just shot these worthless punks for home invasion.
