Incredibly, I just found out about David's passing, and Joe and I are saddened by the news. David and I had our share of run-ins as board members, but his passion for the program was always the driving force. David and Phyllis touched (and continue to touch) our lives in the most loving and important ways. I regret that I did not get a chance to tell him how he and Phyllis changed our lives and to thank him for that. To Phyllis and the family, we are so sorry for your loss. Please know that his love and devotion to helping others lives on in so many of us who are continuing in the footsteps of you and David.

How sad to hear of David's passing. He was a local folk hero in Bucks County because of his and his wife's courage to step forward and in a time that drug use was hushed up, they chose to instead shine a spotlight on it. Their program has helped many, many people. With the news of the election dominating the news, this particular story hasn't been broadcast. I will spread the word to others who I know were grateful for TOUGHLOVE. My sympathies to the family.

I can't believe I'm finding out a year after the fact. Just wanted to lend my voice to the others who are saying that Phyllis and David changed their lives.

My ex- and I were ToughLove Reps in Austin, Texas. My stepson is now in the military and has his own children and a good life going for him. I don't think any of this would have been possible without the program Phyllis and David set up.

All my best to his family and others who were close to him. David was one of a kind.

Did the Toughlove Inc organization close down after David died? I can no longer find the website.

I was very sad to read about David's death. I've been thinking about Phyllis & Davis a lot recently. If you read this, Phyllis, I am sending love and deepest sympathy from Michael and I. We learned so much from you and David, being involved with Toughlove transformed our lives. Our 'wild child' is now 28, married and a truly wonderful yound man. You two made a huge difference in the world. Love Barbara

Heidi,
I am so sorry to hear of Uncle David's passing. I have many fine memories from when I was young. Jeff and I were always so excited to see him. We lost contact as the years went on. I hope your mom is o.k.

How could I ever say thank-you enough for this
wonderful program that your parents gave to us. Our Toughlove kid is a lawyer, a wonderful daughter most of the time, and I keep using the lessons that Phyllis and David taught me,I am not sure that your Mom would remember me, but it is the small one in New Hampshire

I have been googling to try and find a Toughlove group in my area. I live East of the Sf Bay Area. My zip code is 94563. Please can anyone help me to find one? I have also tried the ToughLove international website and that is no help either.

Heidi,
I've known your parents (and you, probably) since Goddard, and years later I did my doctoral dissertation on Toughlove. I'd like to contact your mother; could you please send me her e-mail or home address? You can reach me at wklug@berkshirecc.edu
I'm shocked and saddened to learn of your father's death. And I'm unable to find to an obituary. Was there one--and could you direct me to it?
Many thanks,
Wayne

Heidi,
I too was fortunate enough to meet your parents. What a wonderful couple! So sorry to hear of your father's passing.

I was the treasurer for the group in Hunterdon County NJ. I still have about $150 sitting in an account. There seems to be a few Toughloves out there now and I am not sure who the money goes to. What would you like me to do with the money?

Kindly,
Karen Leff

Heidi: I am a former ToughLove member in California, and can say that it helped me greatly with my daughter. I am looking for Phyllis York, and I understand that is your mother? If so, please let me know how I can reach her, or you can give her my email - ssailow@aol.com.
Thank you.

It is Labor Day and I find myslf thinking about David's passing and how Phyllis is doing. I don't know why, but I am sure there is a reason. Touglove did so much for Missy and I. The workshops were always great and I looked forward to them. David and Phyllis's presence will be sorely missed. They gave so much to so many.

Hi Heidi, you may not remember me but, i worked with both of your parents after completing treatment at Eagleville Hospital. Phyllis gave me my first job as a recovering person. I continued my education with their assistance and later received a masters degree. I saw Phyllis several years ago at a memorial service for Don Ottenberg although he had not yet passed at the time. Phyllis treated me as a member of her family and in part due to her support i enjoyed a rewarding professional career and a sober lifestyle. I am truly sorry for your loss, they were both a credit to the world community we live in. Sincerely yours, Rooney aka Frederick Jordan.
