David and Phyllis York founded ToughLove Intl in 1979 in Doylestown, PA. David recently died in Philly. Does the general public of Doylestown and Bucks County even know about ToughLove and David's death?

I got an email informing me of David's death. I am so sorry to hear that as the York's program, Toughlove, helped so many families all over the world. I know that my family is together because of the help that I received. My son is now an engineer (CE) and is extremely successful. God Bless them both. Do you know anything about Phyllis?

As a TOUGHLOVE Representative here in New Zealand I had the honour of meeting David and Phyllis on two TOUGHLOVE related trips to the USA. The memories I have will stay with me for ever. The TOUGHLOVE program will also remain as a permanent tribute to this parent focussed program that has helped thousands of families around the world deal with unacceptable adolescent behaviour and work hard to keep their families together with love and cooperation. I was stunned to hear about the passing of David. Very few men (or women) have influenced as many people as he and Phyllis have. I was a ToughLove Rep in Utah in the early 90's and can honestly say the ToughLove philosophy has had an impact on me and hundreds of other families in our community.

I recognize that David was not perfect (very few of us are!) but he had a depth of wisdom that only comes from experience and gut-wrenching trials that few of us have had to face. Through it all he managed to maintain a calm dignity and a sense of humor, traits which I question whether or not I could have had under similar circumstances.

This world needs more men like David York. I am sure he is now anxiously engaged in working with misdirected souls in another realm, and I look forward to the day when we can meet again.
