He Picked Me Up From My Neck.. Will To Make It Short They Took Us To Every Unit Each Staff That Was There That Moment Got To Take Cheap Shots At Us... Kids Spit On Our Faces... Worst Thing About It Was We Didnt Even Do Anything... Last Day I Was There I Told My Counculor John Tate Remember That One Campus Issue Me In The Three Other Guys Were In He Says Yeah... You guys talking about back in the day are right, back in the day it was different, that is when Ferrainola ran that place like the mob. Today the school is different. Ipock is very pro-outside systems. He strives to please them, where Ferrainola use to just say FU to them. The school is different, there was a former student who came back and spoke at the Career Day when Terrance Howard was there, he said, "your idea of a past level 5, is a lot different then mine."

The school is ran much more appropriate and better academics and programs for pro social behavior today than it use to be. I am not arguing what use to happen at the school, but in the two years i have been here, i know what we do, and i heard storied from some of the old staff who said its nothing like it use to be.

The school is different...and in a good way!

Bob Lavin I remember you you tiny little fu**ing midget. you picked me up from the center of town hall skipping right to your favored level 7 I laughed the entire time as you tried to hurt me and induce me into hitting you after being "touched" by fred your 110lbs of force was the highlight of my experience at GlenMills as for running into you guys I've seen you in Sea Isle city NJ Ocean city MD and Savannah fu**ing Ga stop fucking following me There are laws that prevent me from doing to you what you did to me.

...and you will probably be the first one layed off when they start closing units because the pop has dropped so much. Meanwhile, GI puts in a $70,000.00 "garden" for the kids and demotes secretaries so that his sister can be in charge..........you're right, it is sooooooooo much different! There's no mob mentality here..........When's tee time?

Who really cares. Rumor has it the Board may be ready to make some changes anyway. Maybe the two that have been trying to get to the top all along will finally have their day. They will topple GI as quickly as they did Sam. After all, it is winning, not how you play the game, right?

I don't care about any personal agendas with GI and Ferrainola. Leave those comments and arguemnts somewhere else. I am on this forum to let concerned parents an guardians that the school is fine, its better than ever. Staff are not doing to kids what staff use to get away with back in the day as the old heads say! I know the program works, i have plenty of counselees that can confirm it, and hope the counselees i have now prove me right as well.

ACSIII,
Being that you are obviously from the Butler area, it appears you did not receive good guidance in regards to the placement of your two sons. The Pennsylvania Juvenile Court Judges Commission recognized a local program in your area, Summit Academy, as its residential program of the year. It would have facilitated frequent contact with your sons had they been placed nearby at the nearby Summit Academy. As I understand, most professionals within the Pennsylvania juvenile system regard Summit Academy as the premiere program availabe to older boys committed by the courts in PA. It has been descibed as a more caring environment that offers everything and more that the Glen Mills School claims to have. For the same price as Glen Mills, SA also provides top-notch quality therapeutic services (drug & alcohol and mental health interventions)not really available at Glen Mills School. Also, unlike Glen Mills, Summit Academy has developed a fantastic family counseling service for parents and students. It makes no sense that your sons were shipped clear across the state to a program not nearly as good as the one in your own backyard. With PA's emphasis on keeping youth closer to home, while utilizing and building a local network of care, it is puzzling especially in light of Summit's superior family counseling services. On the other hand though, the Philly youth are fortunate that placement is available to them at the prestigious Summit Academy versus the more local alternatives. Good luck to you and your sons and may God bless!

There is no "new" administration. Obviously, that's why its in "quotes". GI has been the Managing Director for over 13 years. He needs to OWN that. Most of his Resource Mangers have been here more than that. Now theres another RM that spends more time harassing 20 yo female employees. They are the same group that made the decisions under SF. I think that there are a few that cry the blues over "what Sam made them do." Waaa, waaa, waaa. They're doing the same BS now. I guess you have never heard "Gary's Goons", or SSDD "Same Shit Different Director?" Ferrainola's F%%%%-Ups ARE Gary's Gestapo. As for skipping a beat? How about down to 721 students? Talks of layoffs, units sending kids home without notifying POs or parents, the golf course about to go belly up, kids pounding on staff. Yeah, all is well and soon to get much worse. Think of the Titanic hitting an iceberg. WAKE UP BOARD!!!!!
Wow, sounds like glenn mills is going to shit and the staff are finally getting what they deserve! Carmas a bitch! Go to hell glenn mills.

Can anyone that just got out of glenn mills please tell me if things are different now then when Mr Faranola was in charge?

I was at Glenn Mills for 17 months from "93-95". I was not tricked into going there it was a choice I made, other options I had were shorter terms with locks and bars. I have never commited a violent crime although it seemed that was the norm for others. I live just outside Detroit and was 1 of only 4 in the state accepted to the school. My life was on a downward spiral with divorced parents and 4 siblings depending on me, at 15 this was to much I rebelled made poor decisions didn't accept reposiblity for my actions. Who knows were I would have ended up without Glenn Mills, I have recently accepted a position as a Facilities Operations Manager at a major Hospital. I can honestly say I would not have accomplished what I have in life without the guidence I recieved at the school. I have a beautiful son and a RN spouse. I guess the reason I'm posting this is to let people know that if you take advantage of what the school is trying to convey It can and does work I am living proof. I was "touched up" twice and deserved/understood why. The values you can recieve from there aren't unlike what every child/ teenager used to recieve 40 or 50 years ago. And just in case you haven't been paying attention to society lately are youth are going to ruins us. In closing to all those concerned about their children where were you when they commited their crimes? Mine were either not there (dad) or were overwelmed with their new divorced, single parent lives. I have a feeling that is the same for the concerned parents. Glen Mills not only changed my future but gave me one. I wish people could understand the positives that come from this program. Thank you.

I have been sitting here in my Chicago office overlooking Michigan Ave. and the Blackhawks Stanley Cup parade reading this dribble. I spent nine months a as resident of Lincoln Hall between the fall 1988 and the summer of 1989. First, I must say any one on this site, relating a story of victimization, is just plan ridiculous. The only victims in these instances are the people that you committed a crime against. Hearing this garbage from all of you former students is just,“white noise) in the background of a life ill spent. No one , was touched that did not earn it. There was no staff members that just like to beat on students, and I would suggest, that you stand up and act like a man and do something with your life other than sit and cry about, this that or that. You are living proof that if you do not try and change, you won’t. Plan and simple: GMS offered you a “reset” in life and it was up to you, to do something with your life.
To those parents that are concerned about the school and the treatment that your child has or will receive, maybe you need to turn the focus on yourself and not ask,“what this program is going to do to your precious child,” he wasn’t that precious when he was committing crimes, selling drugs or otherwise wasting oxygen that others could have been using to do anything more valuable for society. Please save the tears because; your children are there because you were a failure as a parent. Do all of us whom have progressed through the program and in turn made something of himself the common courtesy of looking for free money in a law suit somewhere else.
I have in my time since GMS earned my bachelors degree, spent ten years building a company as the VP of Sales, bought a home that is not being foreclosed, wedded, and earned my MBA. If you would like to continue conversations about GMS at least have the decency to have it with a little common sense.

“Parents look at yourselves” That’s right they want you to look at anything BUT GMS. Look at the parents. Look at how much of a criminal he is. Look he got a GED, shop certificate, and played a sport. ANYTHING! to keep the focus off of how students are really treated. Levels my ass. There are only levels when a staff member feels like being nice. Truth is there are some nicer staff and there are some real A-holes. I use to think some staff were ok too, but when it comes down to it. They are all in conspiracy! They all have BEAT a child. They are all CRIMINALS.

Hey staff I think people are here for the truth, not your “former student” sugar coated stories. If someone had a good or bad experience at GMS it does not matter. Truth is, if they were there, they seen it. They seen kids, not get touched, but beat. Almost everyday I seen it. Sure my personal experience was not bad, but what I have witnessed is truly horrific. Maybe you staff do not understand because that is your job, everyday life, and they are just criminals, right? But, in reality you are a criminal, you are a child abuser. So you go ahead and keep lying to yourselves that there is some good in what you do.

Parents, you will know the truth when you child comes home. Yes, there is abuse still going on at GMS. I have spoken with a few kids that have been there recently, nothing has changed. If they want to abuse you, they will.
