Barbara H. Dillman, 78, of Downingtown, passed away on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Temple University Hospital.

She was the loving wife of Silas C. Dillman, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.

Born in McClure, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Helen Kline Hoffman.

She was a homemaker all of her married life.

Mrs. Dillman was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Downingtown, where she served on the church council, Social Ministry committee, was treasurer of Anna Circle, and volunteered as an usher, greeter, Visitation 2x2 and assisted in flower deliveries.

Mrs. Dillman loved nature, and enjoyed bird watching, her flower gardens and warm sunny days. She loved to read and was a photography enthusiast.

She was an avid tennis player, and enjoyed playing matches with her friends. She was a member of the USTA and participated in the Senior Olympics at the county, state and national levels, winning numerous gold, silver and bronze medals. She also played badminton with her husband, competing at the county and state levels, and winning a bronze medal.

Other activities she enjoyed were race walking and water volleyball.

Her family and friends were very important to her, as were her church and Pastor Gulotta.

Growing up as an only child, Mrs. Dillman felt blessed to have such a wonderful and loving family.

In addition to her husband, they include her son, Daniel Dillman and his wife, Dee, of York; and daughters, Debra Palisca and her husband, Bill, of Wrightstown, and Diane Bostelle and her husband, Alex, of Morgantown. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Dana Diehl and her husband, Jason; David Dillman and his wife, Kriss; Nathan Palisca and his wife, Donna; Jenelle Palisca; and Aaron Bostelle. There are also six great-grandchildren: Marshall, Sam and Kendall Dillman; Hannah Diehl; and Ben and Jessie Palisca.

A memorial service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 46 W. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335.

A reception and greeting of the family will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Messiah Lutheran Church at the above address; or to the Downingtown Public Library, 330 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335.
