La Mirada bank robbery suspect caught

Steven Gary Platis, 44, of Whittier was arrested early Monday in Hesperia. He is suspected of pulling three bank robberies in La Mirada as "The Balding Bandit." A Whittier man faces charges he robbed three banks in La Mirada as "The Balding Bandit." A tip led deputies to Hesperia early Monday where 44-year-old Steven Gary Platis was hiding.

Is this the same Gary Platis that has two sisters, Jenny and Barbara? Barbara is a Los Angeles Sheriff County Deputy, if this is the same family. Just curious. I looked at his picture, and if it's the same person, he has aged badly. Are you kidding? He's only 44 and looks like that? I guess he had to rob banks to support a drug habit. Sad, really.

When Gary is drug free and in a rehab....he is truly a good person and cares about others. But when things arent going well or too well he thinks he can have a drink or a smoke,....then it spirals quickly into a world of cocaine and harder drugs and desperation for money to pay for the next fix. He is the first to tell you he is at his best in a rehab program and has been successful in one in downtown Los Angeles.
He will stay in a rehab or one day die ....drugs have a grip on his soul....but sober he shares about Gods grace and strength.

Actually Barbra is a LAPD sargent.
