Dogs saved from certain death

Full story: Naperville Sun

Every dog that ends up in a shelter has its own story. But, the reason they find themselves there is generally the same -- owners who have decided the dog was not a good fit for their family.

I am a foster volunteer and yes dogs do get returned.
I am very involved with new families and work them thru issues they may not be prepared for. I feel its up to us rescues to educate people better for the lifetime commitment they make when adopting. By the way no one has to go all the way to OK for a loving animal. We have thousands in Illinois looking for a 2nd chance. Bless everyone who rescues and stays away from pet stores.

When you buy a pet from a pet store.. your money goes to some criminal somewhere who decides to breed his dog to death. Pet stores do not check credentials of people who sell them their animals.. and unfortunately the sleaze that decide to breed dogs for pet store are usually criminals with no conscience. If they breed dogs for that.. most likely they sell drugs and other illegal activity.

Sorry, but it's a free country. If someone wants to spend his/her OWN money at a Pet store for a dog they can. We don't need some nannies that think they know better telling me what to do with MY money. That is the start of tyranny.

I actually agree. I've got pets from both shelters and pet stores. It was my choice either case and I was happy with all the animals, no matter where they came from.

It isn't the dog's fault it came from some shady character, and that didn't stop me from wanting to give it a decent home.

For all of you that think there is nothing wrong with buying a dog from a pet store really should think twice about how they got there, where are their parents, and think about the dog. Do you think a REAL breeder would put their puppy in a cage at the most important time of their lives? What do you think about the parents never seeing daylight or touching grass and being bred over and over and over just so somebody can make thousands of dollars? For every dog that is sold, those parents of that puppy is still in the inhumane puppy mill being bred. Of course you feel sorry for the puppy in the cage, that what the pet stores count on, your sympathy and that's why they sell so many dogs. Get with it people, do your research, ask questions, ask who the breeder is, ask to see the parents of the puppy. After all, you deserve to know the truth spending all that money on a puppy.

You Should Care, pet stores get there puppies from mills and they are neglected animals breed to the point of dying starved and kepted in small cages not being able to even lie dowm sometimes two or more in a cage. It is people like you that makes this continue so get educated and care about these poor animals

Now that it's publicized about puppy mills. Nobody should patronize a pet store. You have no idea where that puppy came from and it's poor mother & father left to live a scary sad life. Think about it, what happens to the pups that don't get adopted in these pets stores. Are they in shelters now. Can you imagine the mental state they end up with after being caged for 6 months? Put the pet stores out of business. Go adopt a poor soul at a rescue or shelter.

You're right. You have no idea where that dog in the pet store came from. You don't know where the dog from the shelter came from either. It may have very well came from......a PETSTORE.It may have also came directly from a puppy mill because it was in too bad of shape to be sold to the pet store.Just some food for thought.

Daily Horoscope for September 10

Aries

Balance can be restored in your relationships as the courteous Moon moves through your seventh house of marriage and partnerships. Listen to what you partner has to say and then, after careful consideration, express your opinions. You need to understand your partner's meaning because clarity is often lost when strong emotions are involved. Keep as much work and other physical activities as possible behind the scenes. Exactly how some task or achievement is to be accomplished may not be apparent, nor does it have to be.
