SueH, for once I have to agree with you. It seems that whatever goes on in Bolingbrook is somehow tied to Stacy Peterson. The White Hen gets robbed, and according to orphanannie it is because DP had just visited and he jinxed the place. It sure is tiring.

my POINT was that it is EASY for some to POINT FINGERS at other VILLAGE employees, but NOT DREW, while he was working....

Don't blast me for pointing out that a village employee named Drew Peterson was engaged in a sexual relationship with a minor while still married and while he was in a position of authority over her....which by state law says he should have been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.....but the VILLAGE MAYOR and powers that be,'had no problem with it'....the PROBLEM IS: if you look the other way at STate and Federal Code, you just might get your ass sued....
the Mayor has a responsibility, Republican, to uphold the standards and laws that govern his little realm....
just because he failed to do so, doesn't give Drew a free pass for his behavior. It does however, imply that his silence on the matter is consent....which both you and Sue H. seem to endorse...

Let me try to address all of your points. Is this not a thread talking about Mayor Claar and how he runs the town worse than a first grader? Yes. Do I think Mayor Claar knows what each and every employee of the police, public works, fire department, and his office are doing? Probably not. Do I think this man is right? No. Do I think he further implicates himself everytime he makes a television appearance? Yes. Do I firmly believe this man needs NO help from anyone else in the world to cook his goose? Yes.

Of course, I am going to sway with public opinion that this man is a sociopath and a dirtbag. I agree wholeheartedly. Do I think that every wrong that occurs in Bolingbrook is due to DP? Absolutely not.

To answer your question. I do not have children, but if that was my 16 year old daughter sleeping with a man old enough to be her father I would take it up directly with him. Not the mayor, village hall, etc.

uh....she ws 16 years of age at the time, her brain and critical thinking skills had not been developed completely, as it is in all human beings...that happens at about 21 years of age...
she didn't have a good support system, ie PARENTS who were plugged in and engaged with her...her dad was/is alcoholic, her mother turned up missing as well...so,I can't technically blame HER entirely for the relationship that took place...this has been discussed before, and my stance is that DREW WAS/IS THE ADULT in the relationship....HE CERTAINLY KNEW BETTER....HE PURSUED HER!! He would show up at her job at the coffee shop where she worked and spend several times a shift while he was on duty, coming there to flirt with her....no, he wasn't there for just the coffee...he then got her a job at the police department as a cadet....while he was still bopping her in his basement with Kathleen upstairs asleep with the kids....
If you want to point fingers....it should be pointed at the 29 year veteran of the police department, WHO WAS THE ADULT!!, and who by all standards and mores, should have known better, but DIDN'T DO BETTER!!

well, since you are a republican, you might want to take it step further in that the village kept this man employed with our tax dollars for years afterward, right?
I agree, taking it to the source would be the honorable thing to do, and most decent employees would be happy to comply; but you are talking about a child sexual offender on the police force, in essence, and yet the village looked the other way...

Wake up, you are wrong on two points:
you are wrong on the legal age thing...age of consent with an adult in position of authority is 18 in illinois...better read the law..

just scroll down til you get there..and you are wrong on "no one knows when sex happened between Drew and Stacy"; the facts are, her sister and her aunt knew, and they BOTH were unable to get anyone to do anything about it....and her sister states that STacy was 16 when she began dating Drew.
this was ON TOPIC....because it shows a pattern in the bolingbrook community of the 'head in the sand' mentality from the mayor on down...

If you go back a few posts, you will see that my point was not DREW PETERSON per se, eventhough, that is what you seem to want to take away from this...
MY point was that one poster was castigating a village employee for selling FIND STACY bumper stickers while on the job....my response was that what should be good for the goose should also be good for the gander....that DP did much worse while on company time, and NO ONE confronted him about that...
It's amazing to me that a village administration would in essence condone a 47 year old employee of sleeping with a 16 year old girl...while BOTH are employed by the village....

The fact that this situation has gone on unpunished and unaddressed says a lot about the administration in the village...doesn't it? esp. in the climate of sexual harrassment and the law suits that have arisen because of impropriety among employees.

I am not going to get into a pissing match with you over something this trivial. Back to the original question about if the town is going downhill? Yeah- I think it is too. We've been here for about 5 years and it does seem to be getting worse. And, I question if crime is being hidden. For example, our home was robbed (quite a bit was taken) yet it never appeared in the police blotter. Do they not report certain crimes so that people in the community don't get upset and move? After talking to neighbors we came to find that several houses had been robbed in the area in the last few years yet we never read about them. Why are these things not told to the community?
