On Saturday a very warm, loving and caring young man passed away. He will be missed not only by his family and loved ones, but by those who he touched their lives these past 6 months. I can only say you will be deeply missed Mississippi Man!

you forgot to mention "stupid, selfish, thinks he can run faster than a 90 mph train, etc"...

This guy was a douchebag. READ the article. He crossed the tracks when the gates were down just to catch his next train. Why does this article say " a train struck a man..." when a ding dong actually walked in front of it? You say he "touched the lives of so many.." what about the 140+ people on the train not to mention the people at the stop that had to witness him getting pulverized by this train? Don't you think it was selfish of him to do that to so many?

Why do we/society have to feel bad when this happens? There is so much technology, thought, money, thought and energy put into making these crossings safe then a man just walks past the gates?

He had plenty of time on earth to learn that life isn't just about him... He failed and no one should feel sorry about this. He CHOSE to die. Any other explaining away of this fact is ridiculous .

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, SPLAT!

That's what he wanted you to remember him by. Think about it.

No go be a safe , productive member of society.

yep... Jesus just loves you. Uh before you have another coniption fit, remember my " time wiil come" either from natural causes or an accident. I don't think I will be WALKING in front of a train by choice any time soon.

Grow up. Just because your friend was a retard doesn't mean I'm going to hell. What an ignorant thing to say. You're just upset that your friend's there now. Even if you're right, I'm not there now bit your ding dong friend who is selfish and couldn't wait for the gates to rise is dead and not me. So who's the smarter one?

I'm eating Cherriosvand typing and your friend is a bag of skin and bones buried 6 feet under. Should have listened to those LOUD railroad crossing warnings....

Mmmmm , these Cherrios ARE delicious...

See ya douchebag.

it's sad that you think YOU will choose who will go to heaven or not.

Rest assured, with your words (your ACTIONS under God), you will have a secured place in Hell with your hatred and horrible nature. You have zero forgiveness and love inside of you. Darwin is stating opinion (you can disagree or agree) but you sir are wishing others to Hell.

You are not God and he casts you out you hypocrite.

I was on the 2:38 train in Lisle that was stopped due to the accident at the Belmont stop. I saw the train go by that was only three minutes away from killing that young man. Unfortunately I think he thought that the train that wasn't due to arrive in Belmont until 2:41, was the Amtrak train that was barrelling down the tracks at 2:33. It seems like he was confused, and on the wrong side of the tracks, and made a impulsive decision. He must have thought it was the train he was supposed to be on.

Give the guy a break. He paid for his mistake with his life. He won't get a second chance to do it over again, and then we get comments from DARWIN, THAT SHOULD BE INGNORED. DON'T GIVE SUCH DRIVEL AN AUDIENCE. HE wrote that stuff to get attention. Pathetic to say the least.

I had a friend commit suicde on those same tracks in Downers Grove 2 years back, and his actions were insane and stupid. And yes he put many people's lives at risk becuase he drove his car onto the tracks.

Some wanna die, others just make a mistake, the man who perished on saturday made a mistake.

Leave it at that.

I was not at the scene, but based on the timing of the two trains on saturday I could tell he thought the train that was coming was the Metra due to arrive at 2:41 at the Belmont stop. Just before that train arrived at my station in Lisle, An Amtrak train was on that track going into the city from San Francisco. Those trains move very fast and don't make any stops.

He just made a mistake. A permanent one. I feel really bad for him and his family. He wasn't stupid, just made a off-the-cuff impulsive decision.

And had he missed his train, he'd have had to wait another two hours for the next train, which is most probably why he jumped the tracks at a very bad time.

Very sad indeed.

I just saw the this young man just a couple of weeks ago in Mississippi. That was my two older children cousin and I just hate that this really happened. My kids and the rest of their family here are really saddened by his death. I don't know what was going through his mind to think that he could beat a moving train, but he paid for this mistake with his life. I am going to remember his life for the good times that I knew about him; I will not down his life because of a mistake that took his life. We all make mistakes and it was unfortunate that he paid for his with his life.

A friend of mine just told me of this page when he found out I was there when the ACCIDENT happened. My family and I were on our way to the movies when we were stopped by the train gates. We were the 3rd car from the corner. We saw the young man running across the tracks. The train passed and we thought he made it across. When the gates went up, cars were not moving. My husband and I got out of the car and looked towards where people were pointing. My husband and I ran to him. I put my hand on his shoulder and said a prayer over him and entrusted him to our Lord. We were hoping to find out information so that we could attend the funeral. My throat tightens everytime I see a young man that reminds me of him and I'm overwhelmed with sadness and have to force myself not to cry. Our hearts and prayers go to the family and friends of this young man.

you and your husband are idiots. so you BOTH got out of your cars to "entrust" this douchebag to "the lord"?

Really? Who's that? Xerxes. Zeus. Santa Claus.. If you are talking about the Christian god - the one that causes floods and famine in the fun book called the bible, I don't think it mattered much. That god is a destroyer of humans AND angels actually. The guy that ran across the tracks was a fool , we all understand that but let's talk about the crazy followers of this god.

This god allowed his angels to battle and kill eachother in paradise. This god kills humans. This god is imaginary.

Please keep your hocus pocus , religious freakfest off of a message that is designed to share logical thinking.

So far since this loser killed himself there are people claiming they know he's not in hell ( an imaginary place and how in the f*ck would anyone know that), that he made a mistake (obviously) and that we should pray for him... Yawn. When a gazelle is killed by a tiger, do we "pray" for the gazelle? No, the gazelle is weaker than the tiger so we just shrug our shoulders and life goes on for the strong and the intelligent. This guy that ran in front of a train is weak and it's the plan of life to eliminate the weak.

Quit crying, the world is a better place without him. Luckily all of you crybabies are also weak so your time will come soon also and the rest of us won't have to hear from you.

ding ding ding ding ding ding ding poweee!

That's what happens when a weak man tries to run faster than a train.

Why is he a douchebag? Because he made a mistake? I see why you're so hostile. You have no spiritual life. What a miserable way to live.
