Customer arrested at Hooters for taking picture.

It has happened yet again, only this time, the customer was arrested and taken to jail for taking a picture of his waitress at the Hooters of Downers Grove restaurant. He is currently being charged with invasion and breach of privacy which under Illinois law carries a sentence of up to 5 years. His camera was immediately confiscated by the Downers Grove Police department, processed for evidence, and then auctioned off last weekend. Customers were searched again and the waitress was fired from the restaurant.

Update; It has just been learned that the man arrested for the pic at Hooters of Downers Grove is from Los Angeles, California.

Not anymore, Dan! Invasion of Privacy, as of July 25th, 2010, now falls under Criminal law. The entire United States of America is private property and is now protected by Federal copyright. And that includes all Hooters restaurants in the United States of America. Invasion of privacy is also punishable by up to 5 years in prison!

It's happened again! 6 interim waitresses from Texas posed for a customer, and all 6 and the customer were arrested and thrown in the DuPage County Jail. And again the cops searched everyone in the whole restaurant, this time with portable X-ray scanners and metal detectors. 9 more customers were arrested when the cops found cameras on them, one of which was one of those hat cams in which the camera was concealed by the fabric of the hat.

Several issues here. First of all, all this stuff he's referring to is covered by state and federal civil law, not criminal law. Therefore, not police enforced. This is the same jackass posting erroneous info about the Illinois stalking law.

State and federal civil law IS criminal law, too. The Federal government regulates all criminal and civil laws in the United States of America. The Federal government is also in control of all Federal, State, county, city, and local laws throughout the nation. And no, you can not have a cell phone at Hooters of Downers Grove, either. In addition to Federal law, Illinois has additional laws that strictly prohibit still photography of anyone at any Hooters restaurant in Illinois and also forbids Hooters waitresses to pose for any still photos for any reason and has still photography as a violation of Federal copyright. That means, taking a picture of your waitress or waitresses at Hooters of Downers Grove or at any Illinois Hooters restaurant is punishable by up to 5 years in prison and possibly up to a $250,000 fine.
