Mermaids get cool St. Joseph reception

What's wrong with mermaids? That's what St. Joseph sculptor Chris Bussing wants to know after "Lagoona Laura,'' his prototype of a maid of the mist, floundered in Benton Harbor and Bridgman.

That's not what the hundreds of supportive comments, e-mails, letters and phone calls he got said. Besides, a Benton Harbor city official requested the "Mermaid" prototype last year and the city of Bridgman invited him to present it. Both later saying...never mind. The fact is he's not playing the stroking game right.
