You can't set up an appt to visit. It is privately owned. No one lives there (or they didn't used to) and the owner doesn't take kindly to trespassers. It is posted with lots of signs stating such. It is in Dover, TN off of Old 79 HWY right before you get to the Bellwood boat dock. And it really isn't a "mansion". It is an average size house for the time period ... lots of fireplaces, etc. But ... I would be happy to give directions to anyone who wants to just go stand on the road and look at it. Trust me though ... it's not all that. There is a pretty cool iron furnace though right past the property that was in operation during the time the house was originally occupied though. There is also an old slave cemetery but it is on the property and you would have to scale a fence and trespass to get to it.

Man I'm sorry I'm just now seeing this post. Yea, somehow this place has gotten the reputation of being a great place for investigations but unfortunately IMO it just isn't. I grew up in the area and lived there for almost 40 years and still have family there. Other than it being kind of a creepy place at night and having a creepy story attached to it concerning the original owner, it is just a run down old house. IMO one would get a much better investigation visiting the surrender house, Ft Donelson battlefield or the national cemetery. I know of an incident that happened over the Thanksgiving holiday where a shadow person was seen. People report seeing soldiers all the time in that area.

And yes, Ms Keatts doesn't take too kindly of anyone trespassing on her land.

I don't know what the mailing address would be as far as house number. It's on Bellwood Landing Rd. From Old US 79 in Dover, you turn right onto Bellwood Hollow Rd. Stay on that road until you come to Bellwood Landing Rd. Turn right. The house is about a mile down that roan on the left. There isn't many houses on that road so you can't miss it. The wildlife refuge owns the property on the right so the houses are few and far between. If you get to the boat ramp and the water you have gone too far. There are some vacation homes and weekend cabins down there. I haven't been down that way in a few years but it was fenced off next to the road with no trespassing signs on them. Don't know if the fence is still up or not. The old pig iron furnace is on the left right past the house. It is in ruins now but you can still see the stones from the structure.

Bellwood Landing has an Indian Mound mailing address but it is really located closer to Dover. Most people around there, if asked, would probably say it was in Dover. You can get to it from "downtown" (term loosely used) Indian Mound but you need to know your way through there. Lots of gravel roads. The easiest and most direct route is Bellwood Landing road via Old Hwy 79 from Dover. I posted directions above in another post. It's easy to find if you go this direction. Especially if you aren't familiar with the area.

Scary? Hmmmm I hope you aren't too disappointed.

LOL ... I didn't mean any offense to you about being disappointed. I guess I feel that way because it is because I was raised around there and have seen alot of places I would consider spookier than that place. It fascinates me that people actually think it is haunted. I believe it has to do with the house's history that leads people to believe that. The man that built the house wasn't the nicest person to his slaves. My exes family owned that property before the woman that owns it now and they have spent the night in the house several times and saw and heard nothing unusual. Of course that doesn't mean you wouldn't. I guess we just have different views of what is spooky. If you go to Dover though, be sure to visit the national cemetery, Ft Donelson and the Surrender House in town. There have been reports of shadow people (soldiers) at all three places. Have fun.

hahaha...no offense taken, i have been to ft Donelson a bunch of times, but have never heard or seen anything, i lived in a house in town, when i was young, and seen and heard all kinds of things there. my sister is the one who found out about the Bellwood Manshion, and i have read some of the stories, i am 43 now, and had never heard of it, i have been going to dover since i was born, and have never heard of it. so i guess thats why i am so curious. i figure if its haunted, i prolly wont see anything, and if its not, i can tell people i have been there....lol
