Full story: York Dispatch

Momentum is growing for a York County lawmaker's bill that would take away a school board's authority to increase property taxes above the state limit and give that power to voters.

another bandaid (but it'll do for now)! school property tax needs eliminated ... ownership of property has nothing to do with the schools ! when you look at what the money is being used for it's clear they need to have a lot less of it , not more !!! those who think differently ... dig deep into your OWN pockets !

When will Grove give up his fat pay raise and cadillac pension and insurance plan? How much would that save? Vote the bum out!

Call me silly, but IF the state did not grant exceptions in the first place, then this referendum would not be needed - Correct??? It seem to me that EVERY time a school district wants to raise taxes above the limit they apply for are are granted EXCEPTION! What is truly needed is REAL PROPERTY TAX RELIEF!!! Stan Saylor blamed the PREVIOUS administration. Now that the "other side" is in power GET SOMETHING CONCRETE DONE ABOUT THE TAXPAYERS CONSTANTLY FOOTING THE BILLS! Get rid of state mandates for the school districts - if the state wants certain items they need to cough up the money to pay for them!
