Being a victim is a horrible thing. So why would anyone want to live it over again? Could it be that some people just enjoy the attention of well, just being a victim. That's why all of these trashy, talk shows, and the like stay on TV. Drama kings and queens thrive on it! If something like that ever happened to me, I'd want to forget it and move forward, not share it like a good book. Just saying.

This is a disgusting and insulting comment directed at victims of institutional child sexual abuse who have the courage to speak up so that others can be spared the pain, shame and indignity of having to live through a similar nightmare that is happening repeatedly inside of insular closed cult groups. You effectively said "suck it up and deal with it". Have you ever been sexually abused by a person who you regard as an authority figure and in a position of absolute trust? If so you have my total sympathy but how you chose to deal with it is your decision and yours alone. If not then you demonstrate your ignorance and lack of regard for a fellow human's suffering and pain. You are entitled to your own opinion regardless of how insensitive and hateful it may be but only you look bad when you publish it as you did and if everyone just 'moved forward' and acted like it never happened this would not address the issue at the core of the problem and others would continue to suffer. I am an ex-JW, former elder and have been involved in handling child sexual abuse cases in the JW organization so am intimately familiar with their policies and procedures with regard to these matters. I can assure you and anyone else interested that their stated policies, published internally and therefore only known to elders fall woefully short of anything that resembles adequate protection for for children. I applaud victims that have the strength and courage to come forward to expose abusive behavior that for all intents and purposes, regardless of what the Watchtower says publicly about how they 'hate child sexual abuse and want to see people brought to justice' refuse to lift a finger to see that such happens and only will report when absolutely required by law. Their mandate to all elders handling such cases was that "you do the least you have to do to comply with the law". This shows a glaring lack of concern and empathy for the emotional trauma that abuse survivors inevitably face and does little or nothing to protect others, this he problem continues to grow.
