You were violating federal law on election day! As a police chief you should be upholding the law not breaking it! You were NOT an eligible candidate for this office! Let's see if you will do the right thing and withdraw from the race. Are you just another corupt politician, or an honest man?

This is real interesting! If he has violated federal law then he ought to be prosecuted and all of his votes thrown out!!!! Ignorance is no excuse of the law!!!! He states that he wants to do what is right for the people? Then he shouldn't have ran without stepping down first! I'm so glad I didn't vote for him, he has violated federal law and he has been elected to the position of district judge? I hope all you people see what you get!!!

Yeah not to sure how this work's out. He was in violation on the election date but yet he still get's to keep the nomination? Shouldn't it sort of default to 2nd place. And he isnt retiring for another 2 weeks roughly. Yep he'll make a fine polutation. Bet he need's those extra few days to collect full pension. I mean why leave early before you sqeeze every last drop from the place.

This is a black eye for all law enforcement officers. This law breaker needs to be held to the highest standards. It would be unfair to the voters to allow this man, who was NEVER a lawful candidate to continue to run for this position. Also, is Laird in violation too? Somebody needs to file complaints against these guys. This is a gross injustice!

Yeah right he didn't know. Isn't his wife a lawyer for the state? Was she his legal counsel? He knew, he just thought he would get away with it. I wonder what else he has done that we will find out about at a later date. This infuriates me... all that cheap talk about doing something for the people and to give back. How about this... give me back my vote!!!!!!! you crook!

The next time I am stopped by a Springettsbury officer I will simply say I didn't know I was breaking the law. After all, your chief uses that as an excuse when he breaks the law!

I would say he's a corrupt politician, definitely not honest. The Dispatch is trying to make him sound innocent. The irony is that with all his credentials he couldn't search for the Hatch Act information himself.

And he thinks he can be a judge? This guy is a joke! Finally he has been called out for what he is! The voters deserve better. The voters deserve a candidate who obeys the law!

Who among us hasn't violated federal election laws? Let he who is innocent cast the first stone.

What will happen now? Will his political friends help to cover this up? Will the Attorney Generals Office take action? Oh that's right. He has a close "friend" there too. What about the voter's rights? Shame on this man. Recall the votes!

Pull his name. Let the voters vote again. This is the worst political scam to ever happen in York County.

I say throw him out.The three that were running down in Edie's area were basically thrown out barring any time and money they spent so what's the difference here. Just because they eliminated teh office? He violated federal law!!! Even thought he spent donated committee money! Wonder what Platts, Grove and Gillespie are thinking now??

This is a scam. Any child can search about the Hatch Act and Chiefs of Police. There are literally dozens, I just looked, of examples of chiefs who had to withdraw from their campaign or quit their job due to their supervisory duties and link to federal money. I doubt if there is a police chief in the country who doesn't handle federal funds through grants. The Hatch Act is nothing new, it's been around since 1939. He said he was seeking counsel. He knew what he was doing, he just didn't care because the populus is so easily fooled.

File a complaint with the Office of Special Council. If you don't file a complaint, NOTHING will happen.

I've known Dave for 30 years. He's an honest man. Without equivocation, I trust him. He consulted with attorneys in advance of the decision to run. The consenting opinion was that he was not in violation of the Hatch Act. Those of you who accuse him of corruption do not know the man or the facts. I suspect several of the posters are actually one person with a twisted vendetta.
