A Trojan Horse for Creationism

Mar 8, 2013 Full story: Truthdig 1,536

I watched in shock the summer before my sophomore year of high school as my home state, Louisiana, passed a law that opened the door for the teaching of creationism.

Actually, we are not walking in a minefield, you have just been programed by your pastors and Bible teachers to see others who are non-Christians and not interested in your silly religion as "walking in a minefield."

The problem is with your perception, not with us.

Seems you,Dude and others want to follow Stephen Hawking and his ilk. I watched a show of his on the science channel last night about the universe and the beginning of things. His own conclusions blow his "theory" out of the water. He and others talked of the complicated advanced math used to calculate all the factors. Well if it was not SO intricately designed it, it would not not take all the complicated math and all to figure it out,he claimed time began with the big bang there fore therefore time did not exist prior and God did not have time to create the universe. He fails ro recognize GOD is not confined by time as we know it, I thought it was down right silly what he said and turned it off.

See..that's what ijust don't understand...

from my first memories I knew that my parents would love me no matter what. and then the religious cults tell me that god would turn his love off if he wasn't praised properly or if i was bad.

then one questions this idiocy and you're called a bad person for even questioning the fact that god is a worse parent then my mom and dad.

this was about in the 3rd 0r 4th grade that i started to realize they were lying to me...

strange that some adults haven't picked up on it yet...maybe they didn't have the wonderful parents i did...

You clearly don't understand what he said, so OF COURSE you turned it off.

Have you not learned by now that when you open your yap about science, you embarrass yourself and embarrass your Jesus?

And yes, there was NO TIME as we know it, since the Big Bang resulted in the expansion or "creation" of BOTH time and space. This is WELL-ESTABLISHED by science and well-documented.

Sorry it shakes the little cage of your fundie religious beliefs.

hmmm..maybe you should have stayed tuned in...

More than "turn his love off," this God of the fundie Protestant Christians will burn and torture us endlessly, without stopping, for all eternity.

And if we question this bizarre and irrational story that Patriot and his ilk have had programmed into them as "The Truth™," we are told we are evil and Satan-inspired and "walking in a minefield."

I would think that teaching people that their God is a sick, sadistic torturer would offend this God more than anything and put PATRIOT and his friends into a minefield or worse. LOL

Absolute classic cult techniques...and they get upset when rational people point out they are in a cult....

I choose to serve God and follow in his ways, you have the choice to follow whatever it is,if you believe in just following your heart. Mind you in Jerimiah 17:9 Ones heart( one'sfeelings) is THE most deceiptive thing one can follow.

A perfect example of your CULT PROGRAMMING!

What else would your cult leader tell you? Don't go by how you are feeling, just BELIEVE! etc.

Belonging to your cult or spouting your "theology" may make you feel rotten, may feel really wrong and irrational and evil, but THAT'S JUST SATAN confusing you!

Classic.

So do you follow your god's ways about slavery and the subjugation of women?

are your 'feelings' on this different than your god's?

IOW, despite what you 'FEEL' is right, instead strictly adhere to the INTERPRETATION of a selected verse by your favorite priest/pastor/etc, who is after all --- a 'Man of God'.

No sense in relying on your OWN judgement, eh?

Did your church make 'suggestions' on how to vote this past election?

Obviously, anythihng remotely intelligent might cause you to re-think your current world-view and what you've been told to believe as "true", so naturally, you turned it off.

He should helpfully warn Stephen Hawking that he is rolling his mechanized wheelchair through a MINEFIELD! Might be helpful for the evil, Satanic cripple to know, don't you think?

Perhaps in your mind. I prefer to live in the real world. I do not need your version or any version of a "supreme being". I do not need a threat of eternal fire to prompt me to be good to my fellow humans. I pity you and your ilk.

Stephen Hawking has access to the same "warnings" as each of us, it is up to him and each of us to heed the warning. We do navigate the mine field but have at our access(if we choose to use it)the ultimate mine detector where we can avoid the mines. The ultimate "mine detector" is God's word.

One is walking in a mine field whether or not one acknowledges he/she is doing so and/or they choose to call it another name.
