People, what is the big deal whether they are calling it a tornado or something else? If the weather experts are saying, based on all available evidence and data, that is was not a tornado then it wasn't. Good grief. What difference does it make?

this definity had to be a tornado not a microburst . My account from what happened on that night: it had felt like a tornado had hit somewhere after 8:20ish last night. Around 8:00 ish i had noticed that the clouds were very black and had a weird greenish tint to them .i had never seen the sky look like that . it was also very calm and still there was no sounds except for the occasional rumbles of thunder. i had headed in ( i was outside taking pictures of the sky) and checked the weather report online and thats when i found the tornado warning posted. somewhere around 8:30 ish , there was a very loud and deafing roar of wind coming towards the house, it sounded like hundereds of jet plane engines starting up all at once. I got my daschund otto and went downstairs to the basement and as i was running down stairs i happened to look out the window and saw a electrical utility pole snap in the wind like it was a peice of straw and a huge shower of sparks rained down from the snapped powerlines . i reached my basement and could hear the sounds of glass breaking and trees and i had no idea what else getting broken and smashed together. it happened very quickly and was gone in a matter of minutes and everything was calm again . yea a microburst doesnt have a distinct roaring sound and the sky before was definity a characteristic of a tornado . there also was a tornado warning and the official warning stated that there was in fact a tornado spotted .... now why they would say that if it wasnt a tornado?

No, it was likely a microburst.
Couple of things:
- Microbursts do indeed follow specific paths. - They can make roaring sounds. - Greenish tint to the sky can be a sign of a tornado but it's due to hail in the clouds, not a tornado. - It can produce sporadic damage like a tornado. - It can produce a cloud that may appear to be a funnel cloud but is actually from rain being forced out of the cloud. - If the damage is in different directions but radiating outward, it's a microburst. If inward, it's a tornado.
Who cares, really. Microbursts can cause lots of damage, exactly like what happened here.

If, however, you think the bureaucrats are not above calling it something to close the books and make their lives easier, you have never dealt with them. I have seen it first hand, and not just once.

It can make a difference in that federal funds will or will not be available to recover. It is a big deal. Of course, I am sure you, from your couch, know nothing about how things really work. Go crack open another beer and continue pontificating (you will probably have to look that work up).
