Black family sues town over alleged racism

A black family has filed a lawsuit against the town of Dexter, claiming it was forced to leave Maine after being subjected to acts of racism and the police department failed to respond.

This is scary. This is not Maine. What the town's attorney addressed in not what was on the table. What was on the table was violence toward children and racial slurs.

My parents were born and raised in ME. My grandparents lived in Dexter until they passed away. My husband is black, I'm white & we have 3 sons. I love Dexter, but would be horrified to move there & try to raise our kids in such a racist community. Soooo sad in the 21st century that this is still aloud to go on. My cousin is mixed blk/wht and lived there about 10 yrs ago and the kids called her N & one kid came to school w/ a KKK hood on!

I can't believe this stuff still happens!! It's unreal but I have seen it happen in Maine. I grew up in Lowell MA. but unfortunately I live in Maine now. I chose to riase my kids in a safer place. Ha ha ha!! I am NOT racist in any way nor have I raised my kids that way. I hung around with black people all my life. I remember a coach at Nokomis High that was black. He was my friend and I hated the way other whites treated him. I stood up for him too!!!I'm getting to really hate Maine. It is a racist state and it shouldn't be tollerated. Some people are just IGNORANT. The color of your skin does not make you a human being!! My heart goes out to this family and I hope they win!!! BIG!!

Just because someone is white, it doesn't mean they are any better then a black person. I know, I'm white. The difference is ...I'm not ignorant.
