For those of you bad ass folks go on and put on the uniform and give it a try, and I bet you will be tearing up like the bitches you are, just like me.

the resident cop here seems to be making the case that you usually have no choice but to shoot. but when you compare LA/OC to other states or and especially other countries somehow the cops miraculously manage to handle these situations without the use of lethal force. this kind of an incident would be a huge outrage in most democratic countries. nowhere do cops kill as many people as in LA and US in general, except perhaps in China and other fascist countries.

yes these cops should definitely be TRIED in the court, at least so that there is a possibility of conviction. that is the only way they learn responsibility for their actions, even if they don't get sentenced (which they most likely wouldn't).

and please don't give me the B.S. about how horrible these cops must feel, you apologists. they made the decision to shoot because their orders were not followed, most likely out of anger and pride. not because they couldn't have ran away or avoided the confrontation. the cops just take the extreme authoritarian stance where you have to obey them or die on spot. the cops who were capable of doing this to begin with are obviously self-righteous enough so that they'd justify this in their heads and NOT feel too much of a remorse, they did what they "had to".

when innocent civilians make a mistake that costs someone their life, they still get a punishment. maybe not the same as for premeditated murder, but some jail in most cases. this should be no different. there is one problem in the public's mind here in the US, they think that the authorities are above the law. they shouldn't be tried in court... they shouldn't be criticized. their job is already bad enough. they are so brave... give me a break, they are simply doing a job like anyone else, they might not like it, but need the money. the extreme sentimentalism towards the "hardships" of authorities is almost perverted.

So are you saying that the officers should be tried in court for doing the job they were trained to do??? and following those procedures as trained? Scary as my brother is hired and currently going through police training now..

yes, "training" doesn't automatically imply lawfulness. and authorities shouldn't be above the law. if the police department is training them to kill when not absolutely necessary, i would call that unlawful and prosecutable.

i would say with proper training there is rarely a reason for the cops to compromise their position so completely that killing the suspect is the only refuge. this could be justified only to prevent the death of a 3rd party.

So a lot of you think the police should be tried for murder. If you don't want police to do their job then don't call them. Don't call them when your in trouble and you need help. Don't call them when someone steals your car or destroys your property. Just don't call them. Anyone that has no respect for the police and doesn't respond to their commands gets whatever comes. I don't care if they are 18 or 80, male or female, black, white or striped.

Many Americans are aware of the countless
examples of contempt towards whites and the
united states expressed by Obama's wife in her
Princeton dissertation - and spread to young
blacks by Obama's countless hate-filled
acquaintances' and "reverends." But few
Americans are aware of the video of eight
politicians pledging their allegiance to
the united states by holding their hands to
their hearts - actually 7 of the 8. Take an
educated guess at the single politician not
holding his hand to his heart. Rare
coincidence or an extension of twenty plus
years of brainwashing - by "reverends" such
as Wright and Obama's wife - about the evil
and mean united states?(not only was the
above-mentioned video difficult to locate,
I've yet to hear it mentioned even once on
forums, so feel free to copy any part of
this message and spread it through the web,
in view of all the hatred for whites and
the U.S. coming from those surrounding
Obama - especially his wife - that, I
believe the STARK video of Obama
recorded expressing a subtle, but clear,
contempt for the racist U.S. government
- the product of 20 plus years of Wright
hateship.

No matter what age, race, gender this person was it's always a tragedy when the result of a Police shooting is "death" to the Suspect, but gladly there was not any harm to innocent Citizens. As far as "shooting in the legs"...are you serious? First of all, you try shooting a knife weilding felony Suspect in the leg and when you miss I guess you can apologize to the poor kid you hit when your bullet goes through his bedroom window and it kills HIM. Police must "shoot to stop"...if that means hitting the part of the body which leaks the most fluid, then that's what they have to do. Unless you were there or were THE Officer(s) who shot, don't criticize something you don't know about. Lastly, unless you live some criminal lifestyle, what kind of "harrassment" or "power trip" are you talking about. Most, if not all, NORMAL Citizens don't have Police contact...it's called: Obey the law!
150% agree with you! The only people who will disagree are criminals of some sort! Or simply dislike the police until they need something from them!!

I find the entire incident shocking and a disgusting show of unnecessary force by the police. This girl was extremely small (looked no more than fourteen or fifteen) and not physically imposing. The fact that two "trained" officers with weapons were unable to take her down without using lethal force is unacceptable.
She was standing in a wide open grassy area in the middle of an empty park/schoolyard early in the morning when they shot her. There was no one else close so there was no one to accidentally hit. Why couldn't they have used some other means to subdue this girl??? She was a small teenage girl who was not wearing shoes.
Totally unnecessary.
I notice that you fail to menchain the knife that the victim had.. Did you see that too?

I really fined it hard to believe that the officers were in that much danger that they had to use lethal force. This was a teenage girl. Could they have maybe tazered her first before just unloading on her with GUNS. If you ask me they should be repremanded and fired. There are alot of kids that live and play arround that park and there are houses and apartments on two sides of it. I think the officers were hugely more dangerouse to the neighborrhood with there actions then she was with hers. The Huntington Beach police seem to think they are in a police state and wield there power flagerantly.I as a resident of H.B. for the last 31 years am frankly tired of there power trip and there harrassment.
Oh, bullshit. So these cops should have been stabbed to death because the person holding the knife had a vagina? Here's a new flash: you dont have to be Arnold Schwarzenegger to kill somebody. A knife is deadly no matter what anatomy the person holding it has. I was in the Army and saw combat and occasionally we ran into female fighters. And I didnt think twice about blowing them apart and neither did anyone else. So I dont have a problem with these cops. If the girl had a knife and threatened the police then I am just glad that those cops didnt have their wives widowed and children fatherless at the hands of some spoiled little rich bitch.

Anytime you hear a police officer use the excuse that he felt his life was in danger, you can be sure he is fine. It is always the other person that dies.

Out of curiosity I started reading this thread, despite it being 2 years old. I'm shocked and appalled at the anti-police sentiment. The plain fact is, the suspect was wielding a deadly weapon. You respond to a deadly weapon with deadly force. It doesn't matter who the suspect is. A small teenage girl with a knife can be just as deadly as anyone else. Follow the 21-foot rule. If she was within 21 feet of the officers, then they acted correctly. Just because someone is young, small, distraught, etc. does not give them warrant to be reckless. Just because someone is young, small, distraught, etc. does not mean they aren't incapable of killing or inflicting great bodily harm. The officers made the right choice. Regrettable as it may have been, the officers did their duty. And no, I'm not a cop.

Just to add the girl who sadly died was 19 and had apparently cut her mother with the knife just minutes before. Its very sad, The bottom line is the Police did thier job and no one regarless of size should be running around with a buck knife
